If you're only 8 months in and you get a CJO from Spirit and don't take it then you are nuts. The quicker you get seniority at a Major the better because you never know when the music will stop again. Yes, you will be a commuter. But you will also have much better QOL (other than commuting) and be making more than your Captains at the Regional by year 2. Eventually you will get back to Chicago sometime later this decade if it is still open as a base for Spronteir. The goal should be to fire off apps everywhere to get out of the Regionals as quick as possible, even if it turns you into a commuter. Then reevaluate and submit targeted applications to places that works best for your lifestyle.

As an FO it might be less time to get back to Chicago then as a CA since for the most part it is FO's who are leaving for other airlines.

Once you get hired here and get your 320 type, that other airline based in ORD will probably hire you fairly quickly, where you can get widebody FO and commute to IAD/EWR at that other airline and eventually work your way back to Chicago.

It’s just a tough decision cause I know I’m the long run id be better off at NK but my main goal is going to that mainline based at ORD. People I know that work there still think the PIC time is more important (and easier to get at the regionals) but they are old and have been at that airline for decades. I also see a lot of people talking smack about NK on this forum which makes me a little uneasy about it too but basically I’ll need to make this decision for myself and put my big boy pants on 😂.

you also need to bear in mind that the few posters that camp out on the site complaining are not the representation of our group as a whole.

95% of the people I fly with here are great and are able to articulate their concerns without acting like little whiny babies.

Remember…..people don’t usually get on the Internet to sing praises. They get on the Internet to gripe.

In this hiring environment I would say two type ratings, especially the second one being an A320, is about a horse a piece with having TPIC time. But the fact remains that being at Spirit is much better than being at any Regional and that was my main point I was trying to make.

But only you can make that decision. btw, if Spirit knows that you will want to leave there for a Legacy at first available opportunity then they won't hire you.

Go to the mtc if you get the spirit job go there then apply at the legacies. Sure you’ll have to commute for a while but (right now) you’ll probably be here less then a year before moving on to greener pastures.

Tell me you're from Wisconsin without telling me you're from Wisconsin.

I don't work at Spirit but I would leave a regional especially as an fo without thinking twice.
