I’ve been here for only a little while. I will say a couple things. The culture is great.. I’ll explain a little bit. Training is quick and dirty. You definitely cannot just breeze through. With that being said the instructors in the sims clean all that up and get that all ironed out for the Checkride. You should pass the oral just fine as long as you study exactly what they tell you to. It’s straightforward. IOE was awesome. Great LCAs and then you head out onto the line. The captains have no problems answering questions and have no problem answering contract BS. We have our problems that might make you feel like you’re at your said regional but the main difference is your pride is all that takes a hit and even then you really shouldn’t feel that way. It’s mostly social media induced. We had the meltdown right after I got off IOE and I was like wow I thought I escaped this? Mind you SWA had a major meltdown over the 4th of July weekend the previous month. Since then SWA and AA have had thousands of cancellations. I don’t like seeing that for any airline. Ours seems more like a IT problem and you’ll see some of that on the line but I mean if you’re where you need to be and just roll with it. Crews are awesome. You fly 2 to 3 legs a day 4 occasionally and apparently Vegas is seing 5 leggers. Obviously pay first year is the big let down. Insurance doesn’t come in for 90 days as well. DM me because I’m always willing to talk more about it. All in all Spirit has really been a great place in my very short run at it.

I’ll take a crack at it,
Apply to both, go to whomever calls first. Have a CJO from both? Go to whichever has a base you live in/ want to live in. If it’s still a push, you’re going to make more money at LUV, but you’ll *probably* have a better QOL at NK and will *probably* upgrade faster at NK aswell.
as always YMMV and whats good QOL to me might not be to you. And upgrades are never certain or guaranteed.
Hope that helps.

I don't see a fast upgrade at F9. It's all speculative growth.
There are first officers leaving for legacies where upgrade is nearly guaranteed by attrition.

Lastly in regard to Fo attrition to legacies. That’s an incredibly personal decision with factors that are different for everyone. You have some that would never be happy flying anything that isn’t at least in their minds brand x or “better”, you have others who want long haul international flying, some who are chasing the $$$, etc. as long as multiple airlines are hiring there will always be some churn on the junior side of the list. personally I’m happy that the industry is having a period where people have options to get hired where they want to work. All that being said NK is going to have to do something in the years going forward to continue to attract enough applicants for the growth it’s planning that’s for sure.
as always YMMV and this opinion is worth exactly what you paid for it!
