You have 45 days to make the initial COBRA payment. This may have changed temporarily due to covid, but that will go away. The payment could be more than your training salary at Spirit. If you are on day 44 and get hit by a car walking to Publix during training and your spouse is late to get the payment in, you’re hosed. There’s no excuse for leaving our new hires flapping in the wind.

And if you get hit on day 46-90 you're just SOL.

Spirit has an absolutely terrible setup that could easily medically bankrupt people.

Email [email protected] and tell them who you are and that you would like to attend the event on whatever day and attach your resume.

it sucks and it’s stupid we “professionals” go without company sponsored health care. You can Stockholm syndrome this if you want but between that and **** pay things are difficult here the first year.
$7000? Stop being so dramatic. Mine was $1200 a month for my family, yes it hurts but if you haven't saved up to make it through 1st year pay there's nothing really I can say.

I don't know who quoted you this but when I came here 5 years ago my previous airline informed me that i do not need to make any payment for cobra to be covered and furthermore IF I need to utilize the benefit I had the ability to back pay each of the 3 months if I needed to make a claim. This was pre Covid
