It gets easier with exposure. Having said that, had a van driver, without me speaking Spanish, there would have been no conversation after "spirit # hotel?". Turns out he's lived in NYC for 26 years. Would never move to China, because I can't talk to locals, can't understand why someone could be here that long and not learn English.

Ever been to Miami? You literally don’t have to know English.

Suppose that “well qualified” means more than flight hours. Education, prior professional experience, perceived or demonstrated leadership aptitude?

A lot of people on here seem to think that airlines hire based on logbook stats only. BS. They hire people they “like” (subjectively) that also meet objective professional pilot qualifications.

While we’re speculating, maybe they also hire guys likely to vote “yes” or so down-trodden they’re not willing to make waves.

So. I asked for advice regarding my work, not the language. By the way, the first language is called FIRST for a reason. It cannot be changed. If there is such an interest in my language, I think being fluent in several languages will benefit me in life. There will always be one ‘fellow’ who thinks he's saying something smart.

I get what you’re saying there. For sure.

You asked for advice, I gave you some. English is my third language, and I can order beer and ask for directions in another two. If you want to be taken seriously, be serious. Writing like a third grader is not the way forward.

“Hi everyone. I am wondering how likely I have a chance to join Spirit without 121 experience. I have about 700 hours jet time as a SIC now, and was offered to upgrade for captain position. In 12-18 month I should be at 2000 - 2500 TT with roughly 500-700 hrs CA jet time. I like what pilots say about Spirit and how company operate and treat their employees. I would like to join and stay at Spirit till retirement. Loking for an advice from current pilots who work at Spirit. How many pilots were hired from 135 opps? I need to make a decidion eather join regionals, what all we know is not a fun place to be at, or go for a CA upgrade with my curren 135 gig. What are the chanses to be hired at Spirit skipping the regionals?“

It’s not, but I’d wager half of Dade county doesn’t speak fluent English and probably a quarter doesn’t speak a word. Also probably don’t care to learn.

Dade-Broward county line, otherwise known as the Cuban border.
