I’m sure it hasn’t occurred to you yet, but low time pilots from both seats and all walks of life, warts and all, will be hired everywhere once the regional supply of Chuck Yeager’s biomechanically modified super progeny run out.

Spirit will not have trouble filling classes. They’ll see if the bottom of the barrel is in fact the bottom
or if it can be removed before they give in and raise wages, but they will
end up raising wages. Pilots from all backgrounds will apply. Many because it is a good fit for them, and many just hoping to land the first job available while shopping other opportunities. Pilots jumping ship from one legacy or major freight operator to another will be as common as poorly veiled troll attempts on this forum.

There’s going to be churn at the bottom. Guess what? Spirit is counting on that. First and second year FO’s are relatively cheap compared to 8 year CA’s. They expect some to leave. There are better salaries to be made humping 5 legs a day for Herb’s old airline or comparing academy rings and rectally inserted posture improvers for the admiralty club, but that won’t appeal to everyone. The contract here is actually quite good, and that’s apparent anytime I jumpseat and am asked some questions about how we operate.

Im here for the duration and hope they really get this thing settled and figured out. The concept works. If I were a a 20-30 something junior FO with options I might consider moving on. That’s not everyone. I’m here and pretty happy with the decision. More than a few who hire on will come to that same conclusion.

Look for NK to re-evaluate training and first year pay if they continue to shed 40 pilots a month. Maybe even pre negotiations. If that attrition is an outlier then it will be addressed in negotiations.

I hope that wasn’t unclear.
Like button worthy.

I figured the idea of skipping the regionals and going straight to the likes of Spirit was a little far fetched. It's just the way people were talking made it sound like their change in hiring "minimums" to 1500 from whatever it was is actually significant somehow.

I think the real reason the (major) airlines set the mins so low is because it allows them to hire that one in a million super 23 year old and dangle that carrot. I think we even had one here for a few months before he leapt for Delta. Obviously the majority of new hires will be far more experienced (for now).

last pilot townhall here said they were looking at forming ab initio programs - like this that frontier has

https://atpflightschool.com/news/202...y-program.html

https://www.aopa.org/news-and-media/...athway-program

so yes - no 1500 hired here straight to right seat ………yet - these programs will be rolled out eventually from what was said on the last town hall

I remember reading about him. Dude spent a couple years at rpa and came to spirit for a couple of months. The article claims he’s now the youngest deltoid at 23 years old.

it can be quite significant even if they hire very few at 1500

but 1750 after they pass a 121 checkride? That’s a big change

Hello!

About the MTC events, could somebody that recently attended one let us know how long an indivudual’s session is? Is it a group session or is each individual dismissed after their appointed time?
Also, what can we expect during the MTC event? (questions, presentation, face to face time, process)
Thanks in advance!

In the invite email they offered several 30 minute time slots throughout the day, but first-come first-serve on scheduling. The event is all one-on-one. Several Chiefs there, each with their own table. The recruiter led us into the conference room and told us to pick a table/Chief and away you go. They ask for a resume and any letters of rec, then cover the basic red flag questions- convictions, accidents, checkride failures. It was all talking about resume and background while they try to decide if they can put up with the candidate for a full 4-day trip.
