Meet the Chiefs and hiring process

Aside from the struggles of the first year pay I’ve loved my time here. The flying is fun and challenging. The overnights are really nice. Crews are very friendly. I’m trying to be very careful about spewing cool-aid out and what not but for my family and I living in base and the flying has worked for us. I’ll keep my options open for now but eventually I’m going to have to settle in somewhere.
Ive been down south at my GFs families this past week for the holidays. I was supposed to start a 3 day this Sunday the 28th. We have a large dog so we have to drive for the holidays when we come down.
Memphis is halfway home so we always stop and take 2 days. F driving 14 hours. So Sunday I was to commute MEM to ORD and start a trip. This morning in, DOT, I find an incredible trip out of MCO. Day 1 and 4 are DH days. It pays 4 hours more and block is less than my 3 day.
Now, on Sunday, I simply JS on FedEx direct to my overnight. Then on Day 3, instead of going to the hotel, I JS home and no longer take the DH back on Day 4.
This kind of flexibility is exactly why I’m here and why I have no plans on leaving.
I don’t take attrition as a sign that this is a massive dumpster fire. Fun fact I came from a competing ULCC legit dumpster fire. Some folks want WB flying. Some, at all costs have to say they fly for XYZ brand. If is what it is. Who cares. They need to do what they need to do.

Your not spewing Kool-Aid. A vast majority of folks are very happy here. Today is yet another example of why I absolute love this place.

Bros, just to bring this OP full circle, I got hired! Interviewed Monday, CJO Tuesday. I'm super excited and couldn't agree more with the level headed posts on here about the opportunity that NK provides. I'd love to fly a 747, but not at the cost of my QOL. I just don't see a legacy beating the QOL Spirit offers for a guy like me with ~12 years left. I've talked with several different Spirit pilots at this point and not one, not one, plans to go anywhere. Looking forward to class (I requested and got early Feb. due to a pre-existing vacation in Jan that's non-refundable), but they are currently filling classes in mid-late January.
Feel free to PM with any questions.
