But now how will I find out what size Karbon jacket to buy?

real talk tho… it’s a shame that being an adult is hard for some people… don’t like the content/comment move along. The FB group had some great threads with people sharing their pictures, and every once in a while you would get some good info too.

if the screen shot rumor is true… may that person catch Chlamydia

What was posted was acceptable in the form of a joke. Which it was. Pretty benign at that. It was unacceptable if someone had actually done it. Which they hadn’t.

More than a few guys at my shop have had FB screenshots slid across the table to them at a disciplinary hearing. The current group we have is heavily moderated by our Comms Committee. Doesn't mean the Memes aren't fast and furious, but they do their best not to give the company any ammo.

If we lived in a free country where we respected each others views that would be true. Sadly we all have to be very careful about what we say because there are a lot of people out there that won't like what you say, and do whatever is in their power to punish you for it. It's a sad world we live in.

Whoever it was, no need for them to set an alarm as they are already woke.

Led to massive narcissism, depression, and general uncivil behavior. Social and FB/Instagram specifically has completely screwed up people’s brains over the last 15years.

If you cannot call or text someone on your “friends” list then they are not actually your friend and you don’t need to know or stalk their lives and same for them to you. True friends can be called directly.

Even if it wasn’t a joke, and he really did it, still no reason to close the page. People get offended too easily, and punishing a group for the perceived misdeeds of one person was wrong in kindergarten and still is. The most that should have happened is him getting a call from someone saying “I know it’s a private fb page, but nothing is private, so beware.”.

Yup.

People's thoughts and opinions are not usually set in stone, they can be rather tentative and fluid.

FB, etc allows them to spew garbage with impunity (maybe even cheered on in their echo chamber of choice), which re-enforces those thought patterns.

In the old days if someone has a tentative thought they're going to vet that in the context of "if I say that out loud, is this guy going to punch me in the face?". If they're afraid to say it, they may wonder if they should be thinking it. Stupid or extreme thought patterns tend to get constrained, at least until enough people start agreeing with you that.

You boys think Facebook is bad? Go check out Twitter for a few weeks. I’ve considered the platform may be a government experiment on “groupthink”.

Twitter got so toxic for me during the Minneapolis riots (hometown) I had to delete my account and app, haven’t looked back. You should have seen some of the insane $hit I had to read from people I considered to be good people (or I wouldn’t have been following them). I was reading junk left and right from kids I went to high school with cheering the buildings of small business owners being looted and burned down to the ground, videos of fire fighters having rocks thrown at them while trying to put out the fires, all justified in their sick minds.

The even more insane part, the platform is so left leaning those tweets had massive amounts of “likes” which basically helps justify their sick thoughts.

I have Facebook, it’s NOTHING compared to the rhetoric you see on Twitter, DAILY.

Team OG Facebook here. It was great back in the .edu days but I'd say my activity slowly started tapering off circa 2010.

Out of sheer boredom I became active on FB again early on in the pandemic (like many others), and was quickly reminded of why I had stopped looking at it several years prior. I can confirm that as recently as January 2021 it was still mostly an echo chamber full of easily offended weirdos.

I would post an outlandish meme or something with heavily facetious and sarcastic undertones, and get serious responses (usually from triggered airline pilots) trying to have a serious debate while posting graphs and other weird bs.

I swear that a large chunk of our industry, and probably most currently active FB users, have absolutely zero social calibration.
