Thanks for the responses. I read the first few threads and found mostly what I was looking for. Sorry I’m coming from 91/135 and read so much on this site about what pay is ‘really’ like. Will keep reading the threads. Thanks again.

We can be a tough crowd. How much money is really dependent on way too many factors to answer without knowing your whole life situation. Pay for a commuter from California will look different that a commuter living in Alabama. Best advice is to do the math on 72 guarantee and factor in your tax rates. That's a baseline without per diem, working extra, etc. That's icing on the cake.

Quick and dirty way to factor your pay is to take the hourly and multiply it by 1000. So first year will be around 60k, but training pay is only $1700/mo for 2-3 months, so plan on significantly less than that. Maybe 45k or so. 2nd year should be north of 100k.

If it helps, I am a first year commuter, with an average commute. I have a family of 4 on the HSA high deductible plan, not to many other extras taken out.
My bi-monthly checks outside of training come out to between $1500-$1700 each in the bank.
Obviously I am on reserve and have very limited ways to earn extra. I’m hoping 2nd year is better in that regards.
