Weird airplane quirks
Has anyone else has been in the plane with the RAAS (runway awareness and advisory system)? It’s one of our old planes that we’ve had for over 5 years not the new NEOs coming on line and it’s not something it had before. Is it a one-off quirk or is it something that our planes will be getting across the board? Or that option got mistakenly turned on? And it’s turned back off again?
it tells you that you are approaching xx runway as you taxi up to it or are on approach to land on it and it also tells you when you are on that runway
just idly wondering if that is supposed to be something we are getting on all planes as they update the software or that is just a one off quirk
some old planes also have the altitude selection value in meters next to the clock time on the SD in between the TAT/SAT and aircraft GW. It didn’t have that extra value before.
They sent a read file for the EIS update for those changes but that read file didn’t mention these two changes.
anyways back to your normal scheduled APC programming

I stand corrected. Just check my logbook of a flight recently where the puzzled Captain and I both checked our Foreflight alerts for the runway distance call-out we heard. It was 638.

I bet if you play stump the chump all flight long you could really take a pesky FO down a peg or two. And expand your no fly list prestige!
