Why are we canceling future flights instead of incentivizing people to come throw bags and scan tickets for us?

What are they doing to prevent this in the future

Anecdotal, but things are still not going well…. My gym owner gave me **** (jokingly, we’re buds), because his sister-in-laws flight to Ft. Myers canceled…. And, the flight they rebooked them on also canceled….. Apparently Spirit tried to charge them for rebooking fees to get them to Ft. Myers for the third attempt through a different connecting city….. They cancelled their return and bought on Southwest. Can’t blame them.

Not at all…. I walk in chat for like, you know, 20 minutes…. Putz around on my phone for another 10 minutes…. Look at myself in the mirror…. Do 1 set…. Sit there for another 10 minutes dicking around on my phone.​​​​​…. Walk around…. Do a completely random set for a completely wrong muscle group on a machine, and absolutely don’t wipe it down…. Sit back down on my bench and look at my phone for another hour. Wrap it up, and call it a good workout!

IROP: internal and external review of what happened, no drastic IT changes yet until results are back.

Underwing staffing: Pay has been increased, forgot who said it but we are leading pay in something like 12 cities, not just competing with other airport jobs but other companies hiring in general.

MIA: not planned to be a co-domicile at the moment, most likely out and back done by other bas crews. 9 flight initially and then when Frontier moves, triple that coming. Too early to assess bookings.

AQP: pass rates in the high 90% for all events.

Training: Nearly 40 new LCA’s. Sim in MCO should be up and running late this fall subject to FAA approvals.

Hiring: classes full through Oct, still a hundred more to hire for Nov and Dec. 6-700 next year, about half that upgrades. Average new hire has higher hours than preferred mins. Meet the chiefs scheduled in MCO and LAS. Looking into bridge programs and military rotor wing pilots.

Uniforms: still a thing, but not until at least next year, CP says will liaise with ALPA to make sure it is acceptable/professional

New notification app will have two way messaging in coming months.

Thanks for the synopsis. I was mostly interested in what they said about the IROP and what actions they’re taking to fix it immediately. Sounds like not much

Bottom line, they can’t throw money at it to fix it, it isn’t working. When someone asked why we are the only ones having the staffing issues, he balked back that everyone was having these issues.

I would expect little noticeable difference in ground staffing and gate availability for a while. And apparently we had another IT crash for a few hours a few days ago, leading to long phone delays again. But they are making schedulers work 12 hour shifts now, so im sure that will work 🙄

It really seemed like they have no idea how to “fix” these issues and are trying to just watch the operation closely for signs for next collapse. However he did say they really didn’t know at what point a situation gets so bad it becomes a melt down, as in, what the point of now return is on the operation that you have to prevent reaching to avoid the meltdown.

But hey, uniforms! And someone asked about in seat power outlets for that smoking fast WiFi. 😒

Everyone else may be having staffing but clearly not to the level we do so that’s not a valid excuse and doesn’t answer the question on how to fix it. People will do just about anything for the right amount of money. We just need to find out what that amount is and how to structure it so perhaps it doesn’t become a long term cost.

In seat power is never going to happen I did catch that question bc it was at the very end. I think person had a good reason for asking it but management didn’t really catch it. When you can keep people fully powered up on their devices they tend to not start fights when they wait an hour for a gate. A lot easier to keep the tempers down when you keep them cold and a screen babysitting them.
