Yeah, I haven’t gotten that vibe at all in the crew room, crew shuttle or the flight deck. Cautiously optimistic is about the highest praise I’ve seen anyone have. Having deep reservations is most common, and then the only FO’s I’ve been paired with who weren’t looking to leave were older with another retirement income stream or two in the back pocket.

That could be rapidly addressed with some proactive measures, a dollop of leadership and even a half a$$ed attempt at keeping the employees informed beyond repeating the key catch phrases from the initial announcement. None of that is happening. This could absolutely be a good thing if done well or turn this place into a heckish pit of low morale and turnover if not done better than it’s currently being done.

Frontier/Spirit has 283 planes combined. Their merger document shows them growing to 493 planes by the end of 2026. 15 pilots per plane means Frontier/ Spirit needs to grow by a net 630 pilots per year for the next 5 years. Grab your popcorn this is about to get interesting.

Well NK netted around 16 in January so we’re well on our way to the 315 needed for our half of the 630 per year!😂

I’m curious where all of the pilots and gate space will come from. The most logical answer is that they’ll simply take less airplanes than they’ve ordered.

that’s not easy to do. Easiest thing will be to park older airplanes like the 319’s and older CEO 320’s

Pretty obvious answer, assuming they actually want to do it. Get a better contract and open new bases. The latter helping to solve both problems.

Move to a base. Big bases offer more flexibility.

Thats kinda what I think will happen over time. Park all CEO aircraft and only be a NEO fleet. Still would be big but we are talking 100 or so less airplanes.

By the sounds of all these postings the most logical base will be Kingman Arizona.

This ^. Also, here at F9, Indigo is a huge fan of the 321neo. So, once Indigo takes the helm, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some of the Spirit 320 orders converted to 321. That would continue the growth through capacity rather than fleet size and reduce the number of pilots needed.
