Have to wait till end of summer to see how it goes - maybe get the Legacy apps in then.
Everybody has to make their own decision, but your last sentence seems a bit foolish. If you think there is even a 1% chance you would leave, then you should be updating your apps yesterday. It costs NOTHING (or basically nothing) to do so and requires no committment on your part at all to stay or go. Then, when a different airline gives you a call for the interview, you should absolutely go through that process, again it cost you NOTHING (or basically nothing) and requires no committment on your part to stay or go.

Then when you get a class date you will finally know when you have to make a decision. If at that point you want to stay at Spirit, then you will finally be at a point where you have to make that decision.

I think your assumptions of the risks in your first paragraph are also a bit inflated on the legacy side and a bit of polyanna on the ULCC side, but again everybody has to make that assesment for themselves. What I can say for sure is the longer you wait the more likely it that folks that have lesser qualtifcations than you are going to be offered the job at the legacy.

So, my recommendation is for anyone to apply as soon as they can. Keep trying to get every door to open and don't close any until you absolutely have to. Right now the hiring environment has created a perfect situation for all pilots. The legacy "doors" have never been so open in our history, all one needs to do is apply!!! If you end up getting offered through the door, you don't have to go through. Just doesn't make any sense to not try to get it opened now and doesn't make any sense to close it until you actually have to.

Man...I’ve been saying it for a long time.

everybody thinks that Spirit is just gonna start paying us more... as much as I would love to dream and believe so... everyone forgets who we are dealing with.

And now dealing with team F9. Will be even longer, lower paid, and more drawn out.

Cfi programs to A320’s make this place “the new regional.”

You will hear these cadets talk about their plans to go to legacy’s and will use F9/NK as time builders with their freshly minted 1500hr R-ATP. Yup I said it - time

Not so. As a number of regionals are finding, the 1000 hrs of 121 before upgrade has become a huge problem. When your CAs and upgrade eligible FOs are being hired away and you are left with trips with no CA to fly them it doesn’t matter how many wet ticket ATPs you have coming in at the bottom, the flying has to shrink. When you start with people with no 121 time, unless every CA at least sticks around long enough AS A CA to get a potential replacement CA-eligible, the system comes to a screeching halt.

This is all the more reason for those already at NK and F9 to expect serious improvements. And it’s a lot more leverage on the company than ever before. And yet another reason for us to get first year pay up to industry standard and immediate insurance coverage. We WANT to make losing pilots - even newbies - as expensive as possible for management. That’s the way to get them to pay more to keep the ones they already have. Forget this “not going to waste negotiating capital on people not yet on property” BS. It’s a different era.

Agreed nkf9 will be low pay easy entry. For those who stay the captain rates will be something otherwise it's just low cost for indigo all around.
This is honestly so pathetic that I think it's probably pretty credible.

Hiring 1,500 hour CFIs is going to hurt the regionals and therefore the legacies — go to a real job with real money, or go fly CRJ/ERJs for paltry compensation and zero career longevity? Word is already out that the legacies love hiring our talent to preserve their regional talent, thus making us that much more attractive to existing RJ pilots and newly minted ATPs that dream of flying for the legacies.

Lol. Why don’t you go ask the F9 guys how many ATPers and Purdue Bros they have in their NH classes.

I’d give you a hint, but I think it’s kinda obvious the answer…

If anything this BS helps ATP recruit far more than the other way around.

”Drop $90K Zero to Hero and you MIGHT actually just maybe get hired at whatever they are gonna call themselves. We wouldn’t lie to you! We help with financing. Give us a call right now!”
