I have never said guys should explore options, go for it. Ol Clarence Thomas on here has like 15 years here and looking at AA, that’s a lot invested.
It’s the idea that whatever issues we have here, don’t exist at AA. If I were a first or second year FO, sure, I would be looking as well. Guys just need to go into this with eyes open and not all that glitters is gold.
As someone said once “if you’re miserable at your current airline, you’ll likely be miserable at your next airline.”

We’re nowhere near a death knell here, but a clear path to the precipice is pretty evident. Do I want to be here or at AA with 5000 under me when the SHTF? Personally, I’m more concerned with the doors staying open than thinking AA is just Spirit foibles writ large.

I’ve been hearing more and more people that are planning to leave. When we have upper union members leaving and chief pilots stepping down, that’s bad.
Lack of communication all around.
Can’t get ahold of scheduling on most days unless you hold for a half hour plus. On bad days over an hour and on IROP days over 2 hours of hold time. Also, schedulers are hard to hear as they work from home. They seem to have to ask permission through chat to their supervisor with even simple requests like a deadhead release. Very hard to collaborate from home.
Chief pilot email from a few days ago literally says to call chief pilot on duty to get released, but now chief pilots say management is yelling at them for doing it so they can’t. Everything is very back and forth.
The phone situation and scheduling was promised to get better when on average it’s getting worse.
Some are leaving for more $$ and benefits, some for a base. Ok.
Others are leaving for their lack of confidence in management. Not good!
Hope things turn around quickly and we get answers… maybe at the town hall Tuesday..?

Haha I moved to FL for one of the new LCCs and they are closing down my base. I have still decided the LCC life is for me and my family; just want to be at a more established carrier. Anyways, I have a few interviews coming up this month… Who has the better contract, F9 or NK? I know NK has a lot of schedule flexibility including the ability to drop to 0 hours as well as a min 4 days off between trips for line holders. Have y’all heard of F9 having anything even similar to this? Thanks.

F9
they are where sprit was in 2016 with growth and planes and future deliveries. More opportunity and more pay (albeit not much) at f9 right now. Spirit close to hiring their last “quick upgrade” captain just doing basic math 🧮

Rroku, you mean this quote from July 2021?
It didn't age well, did it?
And the growth is at legacies right now, not the ULCCs. He still hasn't accepted that either.
Third stage of grief I suppose.
Bottom line seems to me that the Big Three aren’t going to be hiring much the next 2-3 years and the growth - if they can carry it off - seems to be at the ULCCs and possibly SWA. Despite the number of retirements they once had (many of whom took early buy-outs) there will be a few years stagnation in Big Three hiring.
Just my opinion, and you are welcome to disagree.

Yes, and not well I will certainly admit. The expected worldwide recession hasn’t appeared - yet. That doesn’t necessarily mean it won’t. Sort of depends upon how aggressively the fed tries to squeeze out inflation.

The breakup of the regionals is going to disproportionately affect those who used them for feed. That isn’t the L/ULCCs. And as the regionals come apart the ULCCs will certainly get their fair share of the pilots from them. Laugh all you want, it ain’t over until it’s over.

Watch and see…

Once the regionals are fully picked over, LUV + UPS + FedEx + the legacy carriers are going to be looking for pilots. They will offer a bunch of ULCC pilots (who have apps in) interviews. Most of them will be hired.
News flash: this is already happening at the ULCCs.
You need to move from the third stage to the fourth stage of grief on this because the big 6 are going to be hiring not only to replace retirements but also for growth. And that hiring's going to happen for a long time.
