So yes, your days off as a reserve pilot are not guaranteed at Spirit. The company can have you work on a movable day off with 72 hours notice.
You keep saying “Spirit reserve pilots don’t have guaranteed days off.”

but you also say Spirit reserve pilots get 8 guaranteed days off. So which is it? You keep contradicting yourself.

Dont be lazy and read the contract. Its very clear what 8 represents. We aren't talking about minimum days off, its days off that are guaranteed to be yours after final schedule. They are not all guaranteed to be off.

I cant spoon feed you and I sure wont spend my Friday night explaining it to you like a probation pilot.

okay good...so your admitting you wrong.

You said reserve pilots don’t get days off in an earlier post, now you are saying it’s actually 8 days off. I’m glad you corrected it.

I will be 9 years soon, better than 25% relatively seniority company wide, and just a bit over 10 left. Currently commuting from a legacy base, and not moving. Updated airline Apps a few months ago, it probably won't happen, and I probably won't like the job better, but I would lose money year 1, and be ahead by year 3 (because not commuting), on the NB, never even think I would do WB. My partner is a SWA FO who makes more than I do per hour TAFB before I take the days commuting into account. Don't get me wrong, I love working here, but it is hard to defend staying for anyone with over 15 years left and less than 8 in.

As a practical matter I’ve never had my days off moved around once the schedule was released. Maybe my experience is an outlier, but I doubt it.

Nor have I. But they can for reserve pilots, as im sure you know. Halon could not wrap his head around the fact UAL doesnt have guaranteed days off, ironically he doesnt know provisions in our own contract. Even more ironic is the UAL policy reads to be better than ours. So either he still doesnt comprehend or he is trolling again. Doesnt matter, cant fix people.

How can we start fixing our reserve system when guys like Hallon dont even know what can be done. As we get into staffing issues, the company will seek new ways to to assign fights. So I dont think movable days off or RAP shifts will always something that aren't routinely utilized. I think one of the issue with Spirit is scheduling technology. They dont have the bandwidth with the employees to make these changes, like rescheduling in advance. I know they want to get this new automated system up where it makes the moves for them, in advance, and overrides them. SWA guys are getting rescheduled (or whatever they call it) all the time with their system.

You raise a very good point. The scheduling “creativity” is probably about to be turned up a few notches to cover our trips.

Cinodemayo,

you have nothing to say that you wrong when you said “reserves pilots don’t have guaranteed days off”?

Or are you just gonna keep ignoring that and attacking me?
