I would assume management isn't interested because the union had asked for something significant in return for the paid leaves? Otherwise VILs would seem more appealing than furloughs for management and pilots.

You are forgetting who we are dealing with here. They highly regret the VILs and EILs during Covid. This is a group that takes pleasure in things like furloughs. They got caught on their heels after southwest inked their deal for leaves during Covid and had to react as they always do.

Just curious.

The good news is, once the merger is approved Ted/Bendo will be sidelined and B6 management will start making the calls. If Spirit furloughs, they will neer see those pilots again. They'll all go to legacies in this hiring environment. I think B6 management is much more aware that, even if we're overstaffed for now with the engine issues, eventually that will be rectified and they will need the pilots. Ted/Bendo may only be thinking short term and/or don't care at all.

not sure how early they have to post with the state, but i check this website once a week or so and haven’t seen anything filed with the state of florida yet. i’m not sure if we would see it on here before they posted but maybe something help the anxious sleep a little easier at night:

I'll probably get roasted for saying this but I dont see how the company can keep the current status quo up. They've reduced lines in almost every base (for FO's atleast), they've stopped hiring and upgrades, offered early outs to office workers and the NEO grounding peak hasn't even hit yet. The email from Ted even mentioned a "series of difficult descisions". I'm reserve, and live in base, got called twice last month. Some would say im living the good life, but I'm starting to look for the emergency exit.
The decision has already been made, but the numbers aren’t final.

I don’t specifically know but they have stated many times in the past they especially loathe paying pilots to not work. Do a shallow dive into their history. They specialize in labor disputes.

Hot damn, Watson! That’s some amazing detective work there. Indisputable evidence showing they deeply regret the 2020 VILs.
