Attrition
#3571
Uhh... Next year is a month away. How many of the guys in intro this week will be done with OE by then?
But the point is still made. The opportunities are out there and if the merger doesn't go through the attrition will encompass mpst of the junior pilots. And if an F9 merger is even hinted at, the senior NK pilots might even wind up swinging gear for some of those former NK junior pilots, if only briefly.

Sonwhat does that mean at NK if the merger goes down?
Basically, anyone you try to downgrade will be out the door, any lineholder CAs that can no longer hold a line will be saying adios, anyone you furlough you will never see back, and any remaining FOs will be heading for greener pastures as soon as they can get their apps out. You'll wind up keeping only the highest paid guys you got, which will be a h€ll of a personnel hit for damn little savings. And if F9 try's to buy NK, most of those people will be pulling the handles too.

Anybody that is younger than 45 should be getting out no matter what happens. Why stay when you can be at a Legacy holding CA very quickly or get a nice WB line as FO... There are alot of young junior CA's that will sit reserve for a lonnggg time... senior FO's wont be upgrading either. Heck even 50yrs old should be thinking about leaving, you still have 15yrs to go and will be making more $$$ than you do now after 1yr, better retirement.. the attrition will get even worse here soon.

Yes one could hold legacy CA fairly quickly, but probably not in a desirable base and one will be junior in seat for quite some time (we all know it is true)
Anyone in the top half of the NK seniority list, especially those living in base in FL, is going to enjoy a nice career with seniority and all of the benefits that come with it (pending merger approval, which we will know shortly)
I'm starting to wonder if all of these accounts encouraging pilots to leave are management shills. It's almost like the whipsaw of the regionals back in the day.
"Hey everyone, quit and give up your seniority at carrier A to start over at carrier B on first year pay because the upgrades are better here..."

Remove your emotions from the equation and think about the facts:

There's no emotions, i was talking to the young crowd that's somewhat junior. Of course the senior guys really have no reason to leave and are older. I was giving advice to the younger groups. The retirement numbers don't lie, they will continue to be big for years to come. If you can be a CA very quickly at a legacy TODAY, just wait a few years when places like AA,Ual really start retiring..truly is a no brainer... This is advice to the younger guys (mostly 45 and younger)
