I’m not sure if you’re just informing us of y’all’s situation or cheering it on? Attrition for both airlines isn’t a good situation in my opinion. We both have recent TA’s and it would be nice to see both airlines financially healthy before the merger. Seems to me that Spirit can’t staff the airline properly currently as I see ac sitting on ramps everywhere(not referring to engineless neos). It’s kind of depressing.

However, I do agree we need to all be on the same page and fight for a jcba that competes and or is better than the legacy’s and makes our airline an attractive place to call home.

They are different causes of action. DOJ is anti-trust. DOT is based on benefit to traveling public.

However the court case goes, DOT will follow suit.

I suspect it will end up in the usual compromises - give up a few gates here and there.

Maybe if there was a better apple to bite from, people wouldn't be so quick to opt for the Georgia peach!

Any updates on Spirit's attrition at this point?

Just wondering if the JetBlue/Spirit merger was factoring into people waiting to apply to one of the legacies or not. I'm guessing probably not and attrition is still pretty bad, but just thought I'd ask on here to see what people were thinking.

The union decided to switch from monthly attrition updates to quarterly updates, to keep us dreaming about golden delicious apple bites rather than a monthly reminder continued attrition would have surely pressured management to coming back with an improved TA offer. We should be due for a Q2 update in July.

If anything, the merger should make people leave faster. The reason to come to NK was the fast growth and upgrade. With 70% of the JB pilots that were hired in 2013 not in yet the left seat of the "big(ger)" bus, upgrades are going to come to a screeching halt for NK FOs after integration.

Remaining on the SL from the 2013 hires:
JB: total 221, A320 PIC 73, 220/170 PIC 53, FO 100.
NK: total 168, PIC 162, FO 6.

2018 hires:
JB: 224 total, 158 320, 23 220, 42 170, all FO
NK: 298 total, 40PIC, 258 FO.

(all based on March 22 Seniority list data, because the way I built the excel sheet makes it hard to add to the bottom....)

Yes, once you upgrade, your pay is a bit higher, but if it takes an extra 5 years to upgrade.....

Vacancy bid published today (we do monthly bids,) are for 10 CAs and 95 FOs. I would figure a safe ratio would be 2:1 FO to CA on the hiring/upgrade if attrition was minimal and company was growing. The fact we are 9.5:1 says FOs still leaving in droves
