Can’t argue with anything written above^^^but with respect to the merger, I wouldn’t be so confident. I’ve personally never seen the DOT get involved like they have this time. Norms are out of the window these days.

right now it’s up to a Republican appointed judge. he doesn’t even have to send it to trial by jury if he doesn’t want to.
He can end it in Summary Judgment if he wants to, come this October.
and if somebody else wants to appeal… well they won’t…because they would even have less success with that.
and if mayor Buttigieg still thinks he can block the merger using the DOT’s authority he will be held in contempt.

Left after 4 years and 2 days. Thanks for the extra 401k $ to bring with, Ted!
In all seriousness, while I’m at my dream carrier now, it’s def bitter sweet. I got hired at the perfect time at NK and enjoyed senior FO for a vast majority of my time there.
Ultimately I just couldn’t see the new Blue being some massive player in ORD (even possibly DTW). I just don’t see where they are going to get gates. We have 4. Blue has literally 1 MAYBE 2. Hell they might even share one with Alaska…
Between United/AA and good lord Delta has like 11 or 12 now in T5, it’s just hard to envision ORD is going to be a big part of it all.
Still have almost 30 years left. It sucks for sure cuz I didn’t hate it. I absolutely despised where I left to come to Spirit, but this is the first time ever it left and been a bit sad. Oh well.
Ive got a lot more options and variety now in flying and what I want to do and try so that will be cool. But I’ll be a sad for a bit lol.

What benefit does a new hire have to stay at spirit?
Quick upgrade?- not after all those thirsty jetblue pilots get their hands on them
Florida bases?- more thirsty JB pilots
Quick upgrade in Florida bases? Lolz
QOL?- not after you find yourself below all those young, thirsty, JB pilots
First to profitability?- how’s that going? You guys gonna be profitable Q1 this year after last years ugly numbers?
Base stability?- We’ll see after JB is done with you.
Pay rates?- You’re still lagging. There’s nothing amazing at what they offered you after you’re new LOA.
An amazing JCBA with JB?- Sure. Why wait around for god knows how long (2-5 years prob) for some potential great CBA when you can go to a legacy with massive retirements, better CBAs already, and WB Flying.
New hires/recent hires look at spirit and JB and see an uncertain SLI, stolen seniority, and a very uncertain future. Why give up the greatest hiring wave in generations to wait around for Spirit/JB?

Also which major has a better JCBA? At united at the moment they are far from happy and the JCBA is seemingly aways away.

Yeah, that was me. Knowing I will likely never upgrade in DFW, when I can potentially upgrade at AA in 3 years or less, it was a no brainer. I really enjoyed my time at Spirit for the most part, but with management checking out, merger uncertainties, huge displacements, it was time to go.

Exactly. This will be like every other merger. The government files suit, the airlines horse trade gates away to satisfy the government, Frontier gets more gates in BOS, LGA, and JFK. Just like SWA did in the USAir/AA and Delta/NWA mergers.
