Yeah, that was me. Knowing I will likely never upgrade in DFW, when I can potentially upgrade at AA in 3 years or less, it was a no brainer. I really enjoyed my time at Spirit for the most part, but with management checking out, merger uncertainties, huge displacements, it was time to go.

exact same for me. Projections show holding Dfw captain at American sooner then spirit even with a multi year head start at spirit.

beg to differ on the 4-6 year people not leaving. We lost 20 captains plus some senior FO’s that were in the 4-6 year range.

What benefit does a new hire have to stay at spirit?
Quick upgrade?- not after all those thirsty jetblue pilots get their hands on them

Florida bases?- more thirsty JB pilots

Quick upgrade in Florida bases? Lolz

QOL?- not after you find yourself below all those young, thirsty, JB pilots

First to profitability?- how’s that going? You guys gonna be profitable Q1 this year after last years ugly numbers?

Base stability?- We’ll see after JB is done with you.

Pay rates?- You’re still lagging. There’s nothing amazing at what they offered you after you’re new LOA.

An amazing JCBA with JB?- Sure. Why wait around for god knows how long (2-5 years prob) for some potential great CBA when you can go to a legacy with massive retirements, better CBAs already, and WB Flying.

New hires/recent hires look at spirit and JB and see an uncertain SLI, stolen seniority, and a very uncertain future. Why give up the greatest hiring wave in generations to wait around for Spirit/JB?

Don't forget the very real possibility that we end up merging with Frontier after this whole JB thing is squashed.

Why? If the DOJ shoots down this merger, I can’t see them allowing a frontier merger.

they’ll argue that it lowers fares for consumers by making a larger ULCC that can better compete against the bigger airlines.

Except that is the same argument for JB acquiring NK. Making a larger LCC to compete for market share…. It’ll get passed.

The DOJ can’t unilaterally shoot down this merger. Both sides will make their case, but it’s ENTIRELY in the hands of
one Ronald Reagan appointed judge.
