Thats how it works in my head as well. The only "involuntary" would be if they didnt want to be displaced as a CA to a junior base, but thats not an involuntary downgrade as he claimed.

I love this defense mechanism. Like how Spirit pilots used to say “yeah, but we are recession proof” and “yeah, but we will see who survives with $150 oil”. Shocker, they did quite better than we did and are profitable, as we are not.
So if anyone is “hire to they furlough,” it’s Spirit, not a legacy.

Please elaborate further on you’re seemingly snarky post. You have a problem with me as a potential applicant not wanting to come to your airline because I have self respect and know what I’m worth and my regional paid me full guarantee during training which was a lot more than Spirit? Like the other poster said I’m not thrilled with taking a pay cut. It’s called handling my finances like an adult.
Anyway, you may have your finances like an adult but you handle your emotions like a toddler.

If someone gets downgraded because they didn’t take the 2 minutes to put MCO CA and FLL CA into their bid, and they would have taken that position vs a downgrade, here is your sign”

You can only bump people junior to you. We don't have super seniority displacement rights in the CBA. Apparently some more senior people decided to take upgrades and some bottom CAs got bumped out.
Junior CA hire date just went from 11/25/2019 to 10/21/2019.
The reality is that upgrade time just increased and Spirit has CAs being downgraded to FO.
This whole displacement bid situation is completely absurd for a growing airline.

As of now there’s no reason to raise training pay. Classes are full at 30 people per class weekly. If that can continue remains to be seen. I’m sure there’s less regional applicants but they have shown they are willing to take cfis off the street. Classes also have probably on average 85-90% show rate with at most only a couple people deciding not to show. They are easily pumping 100 people through training each month right now. So they don’t have as big of a problem attracting people. If you can’t stomach taking a pay cut to get further ahead it’ll be nightly tough to leave your regional as a captain making $250k per year just to drop down to to 90k per year at a legacy. In the industry rarely if ever can you get ahead financially without taking a temporary cut.
