But we're not Delta. We aren't feeding transient pax into a hub and loading them into a heavy bound for Amsterdam, or an RJ hopping over to Grand Rapids.
We fly leisure travelers on a budget. I can't think of a better market than Detroit for this demographic. All of our big destinations have to have a decent amount of demand.

Yeah but you're speaking in terms of outward demand for the locals wanting to leave and visit another part of the country.

Detroit itself is not a destination market that brings people in from all over the country to enjoy whatever it is people do there.

True destination markets (MCO, FLL/MIA, LAS, etc) bring in pax from all over the US and LATAM. DTW brings in people from Michigan returning home from a cruise in Florida.

And yet F9 has had no problem doubling their routes out of DFW, opening a crew base, and plans to again double their size. Perhaps the Spirit problem in DFW isn't DFW.

They can’t staff it all. There is money to be made in all three bases that are being reduced but attrition is the issue. They are moving crews to where they can maximize on what they can staff. It sucks but it is what it is.

At this point any base should be attainable within a month or two out of training. Other than ORD, DFW and DTW.

I guess I didn't realize the World of Coca-cola and the Space Center were drawing in such big crowds from all over US and LATAM

Good news out there today. Check out your Spirit email. A new VP of labor relations coming on board. Lots of Yada Yada about who he reports to etc etc.
