Attrition
#2351
If they don’t stop the attrition, Spirit may not survive to the merger. They’re taking on a ton of airplanes and can’t manage what they have. Their cash position is the lowest it’s been since covid. They still haven’t turned a profit. It’s going to get ugly.

Yea, I here you. I edited my post that you responded too. That’s how I see it.

Skywest just cancelled a bunch of E-175s because they don’t have the personnel to fly them because they can’t keep CAs long enough to upgrade the next generation of FOs. The problem won’t be getting people to come to NK(despite the pi$$-poor training and first year pay), there will be plenty of low time FOs stranded when their regional folds, it’ll be keeping them at NK after their first year. For the senior Regional FOs not tempted to be DECs, after consolidation.

Granted, my exposure was with private companies. Don’t have any experience with publicly traded companies and mergers.
I just don’t think that NK can offer whatever can be agreed upon without it having some sort of bearing on the merger. No one knows the details so who knows how this will go. I sure as hell hope I’m wrong in every aspect because something needs to give to stem attrition and turn a profit.

That was Republic that cancelled a slew of new E-175s.

It was ready but Bendo’s dog ate it. Management pinky promises to have it by Friday though. Management has the equivalent work ethic of a hungover community college student who forgot his term paper.

Your statement isn’t exactly the full truth. Those that left were not all new hires. This is pretty significant growth on the fo side and they hired almost 3x the number of fos compared to those that left. A new hire fo does the same work a 4th year fo does at less than 1/2 the cost. Don’t think they are hurting for captains. Fos are easily replaced and it shows they are doing just that.
