Attrition

Yes, the Neeleman dream is dead. But if 70% of FAs aren’t bringing you water then maybe you’re doing something wrong. Do you say hello and tell them your name when you board? Or do you just blow past them and take your seat?

My other point and perhaps heads up is we (Spirit) have arbitrarily just been assigned an additional duty on average adding 20-60 minutes to our duty day, with no pushback from our Union reps, that I am aware of, that involves the deplaning time period.
Someone also pointed out how the Spirit policy is certainly flawed in that boarding the passengers does not require a pilot to supervise.

Thank you this is the answer. The JB FOM specifically states you are not required to do it.

Very simple way to prevent pilots from having to stay during any deplaning today or for the future.
CALL a cab or Uber black. If you have to deplane, especially deplane an international flight, you’ll be over 30 minutes from block in. Call a ride and expense it. I wish pilots, CAs and FOs, did this every time. I’m willing to bet a few thousand expense reports for transportation fees from either poor hotel shuttles and having to stay after would change the policy.
They only care about money. It’s a contractual right and pilots still don’t use it, wait on the curb for 45 minutes in IAH for the short stay van, after clearing international 30 minutes prior. Why?

The termination checklist has always required a pilot to wait till the last passenger had left. If MX is there to take over, or if there's a change of crew there is no need to wait in the aircraft till the other crew is there, just make sure power and air are hooked up before you kill the APU and run. The only new thing: if your last leg is an international arrival into FLL, you are hosed. Any time we have to wait till pax are gone should trigger 0:15 pay at least, but that won't happen because apparently we should be okay with only getting paid if it moves...
Obviously our policy is not consistent. It specifically allows passengers to board with a cold/dark cockpit, but prohibits the excact same situation for deplaning. Does it really matter what way the people are walking when it gets dark? And how does it comply with the recommendation in COM 1 3.1.25 (max 20 minutes without AC) because the FAs will not be able to ask ramp to hook up air... And I don't think FLL is any worse then MCO for quality of GPU/GAC.

Boarding of passengers would effect D0 if boarding was delayed until a pilot comes. Deplaning of passengers has no effect on on time performance. This should not be a mystery why the company doesn’t require one and might require the other.

Well there’s the problem.
When I get on the plane I say “Hi, I’m Boomer” to whoever’s in the forward galley. That’s it. Then I keep walking. You’d be surprised how often they’ll offer you water. Try it sometime.
Flight attendants are not the enemy.
