The source of that number determines its accuracy, some pilots can go to a NonBidding status that can make it look like you have moved up depending if you look at flica/NavBlue/master seniority list/etc

Not sure what you are saying. I don’t think UAL, DAL and AA are having over 50% of their new hires leaving.

You and your clueless CEO are living in Lala land. This is not going to get better. It’s just the tip of the iceberg. IMO in 2023 Spirit will lose more pilots than it can hire. Those planes will not be flying.

UAL’s Kirby is about to order over 100 new widebodies in addition to the 500 narrowbodies he’s getting over the next 60 months. He intends to hire 400 pilots a month.

This means all tier 2 carriers, Spirit, Alaska, Frontier, SWA and JetBlue will lose more pilots than they can hire and train.

Time for Spirit to get real and match or exceed Legacy carrier contracts.

100% this will be the perfect time for a JCBA and for JetBlue management to put their money where there mouth is. And not the current legacy contracts, the new ones.

In the mean time all things Spirit continue

agreed, the only thing any spirit pilot should say in public is "legacy or better" with quality of life improvements. I'm so sick of hearing that we need to give something up to get something. Its stockholm syndrome.

It really is. When you hire a bunch of guys that didn’t go to college or flew in another country for half the pay you get lowered expectations. “I’m here for QOL” I hear all the time. What QOL exactly? It’s just something their buddy from crap cargo or foreign airline xyz told them so they repeat it. Many have no idea what the actual market is like these days. Half don’t even know our own contract let alone know what’s in other contracts.

It’s sad

I’d much rather fight alongside guys that had the wisdom to see through the con that college is.

They won’t fight though is the issue bc many feel they were not qualified for a legacy and therefore don’t expect or deserve the same or more pay. It’s psychological.

Exactly. The flood gates have been open and junior CAs are still leaving as they were before. The displacement has been known for 7 months now. Anyone who has wanted to leave, has been trying to leave.

I'm pretty sure college degrees were a hard requirement when 99.9% of our current pilots were in flight school. You could probably make that argument for someone starting training TODAY though.

You are 100% correct about a hard requirement, but you missed my point.
