The 90 is a lagging indicator, for sure. The 24 that left last month is a loud scream to management saying "YOU WONT BE ABLE TO STAFF AIRCRAFT"
I mean damn, they hired 43 last month, and upgraded 22 and 24 left. So assuming those that left were FOs, the net of 19 First Officers isnt even enough to backfill the upgrades and doesnt provide one extra FO for growth. They hired 43 and essentially their FO seniority list shrank.
Oh Jeff....you got some problems on the horizon.
So tell me again Excargo why first year pay is something we need to negotiate for?

The company wants and needs to grow. For that, they need to expand the pilot group quick and wide. Once legacy hiring booms after the holidays it’s going to be a bloodbath. The company will be forced to raise starting (no more training pay, benefits day 1, etc. The entire pilot group should benefit by the market forces being what they are….being truly favorable for pilots for once.
Ex cargo dog is technically correct but tactically stupid.

hard to tell. The numbers in the email look like a two month look back and then a year to date number. If that’s correct then 90 would be year to date.

The argument on the forums has arecently been "does the union need to negotiate for higher first year" OR "let the company raise it using their own "capital"; because of the very points you make above.
Last straw poll was about 90% in favor of letting the company fix their pay problem and 9% saying the MEC needs to raise first year pay in negotiations , and ExCargo is usually screaming from his soapbox.
Sure doesnt seem like the company can drag a contract out when advertising those FO pay rates

I agree with all of that.
