Attrition

In this environment? Not a damn thing. Any negotiating committee or MEC members not talking about winning and only talking about concessions or horse trading ought to be fired. Like the UAL MEC that voted for a concessionary contract.

Funny, when we say in this environment that we won't give anything up for the other +84%, we get an earful from you. When you say it, it's just obvious. Glad we finally agree.

Everyone: “We won’t go to the company for higher first year pay, we won’t give anything to get it, they will need to come to us to increase pay to attract pilots”
ExCargo “we don’t need to give anything up to get higher rates”
Great, we all agree. We can finally put this to rest.

Haha. That’s the irony I was hoping someone would see

Be mad at yourself, you went against your own advice and came to an airline you said you would avoid.
And just to get you going, I’ll reiterate, “we should not bargain for first year pay, management will need to raise it to fill classes”. Now, go get your shine box and post some charts or links to articles.

Haha. Spirit Airlines. Remember, this is the same company you said you would never work for. You should have listened to your own advice. Some airline management has more interest in procuring the best talent available, (see the letter UAL management sent ALPA regarding the TA) and others are like Spirit, they would get a tuna sandwich to sit right seat if the FAA let them.

And the letter UA management sent to ALPA was to cover the fact that the MEC members voting to send the TA to the pilot group had stepped on their dicks by approving a concessionary contract and UA management was hoping to avoid getting them recalled and replaced by less pliable reps.
You truly think UA management sent that letter because they sat around and decided they WANTED to give the pilots more?

Why bother? I can’t instill empathy for fellow pilots in someone who has none. All I can do is refute their online pronouncements. I’m just hoping the negotiating committee for the JCBA can be as enlightened about caring for the new hires as the JetBlue guys/gals have been in the past.

I’m not mad at anyone. I just think that people who keep repeating that same mantra despite the fact it has obviously not worked are crazy. What’s that old saying about doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result? NK has now gone two contracts with that philosophy and still has industry lagging first year pay. You can laugh all you want, but our junior pilots deserve better.

That calculation changes with new management, as I said.
