Agreed. Those too lazy to fill out a survey probably willing to settle for less.

Yes, and they’ll be the first to complain!

Just like last contract cycle. The loudest ones are the ones who contribute the least to the process. They literally feel like ALPA needs to back a dump truck of cash up to their house because “I pay dues”.

They are too busy being out on their boats to go and attend any type of contract negotiation meeting. Then complain about it later.

I'd guess I am harder working than the average Spirit pilot this year. I KNOW I am more senior in my seat than the average Spirit pilot. I don't really do premium, red-eyes, or weekends.

67.5

From June -Sept, my low is >20, my high is >60.

Based on your credit, how many days off did you average?
15

From June - Sept, I average 18.

I'm trying to make as informed of a decision in who I target.
I don't see how that informs you, but, there you have it. Go to Spirit if you live in a Spirit base. Go to Frontier if you live in DEN. Go to Delta, United, American, Southwest, Alaska, or jetBlue if you live in their bases. Go to FedEx if you aren't scared of the dark and live in MEM. Go to UPS for $, or if you live in SDF.

This cannot be overstated. If you commute, move to a base. Many will say the ability to commute is a blessing but it’s actually a curse. Most careers it’s not even an option. Just try your best to get on w the airline whose base you live in. If you don’t, move to the base for the one that hires you.

Or you could live where you want to live, where most of your family/ super close friends are and in a city you grew up in and actually care about.

I “lived” in base back during my RJ days cuz everyone told me how incredible it was. Right… I ended up leaving and going back home (where my life was actually fulfilling) after only 6 months or so. The city sucked and while I had a couple work/pilot friends who also lived in base, it wasn’t fulfilling and I wasn’t happy.

I currently have anywhere between 10-12 flights a day - 1 hour or so block to and from my home and work. I can assure you my life isn’t miserable because I commute.

What would be miserable? Moving to base. A city I don’t care about where I have zero friends or a social network. Not saying I wouldn’t be able to make friends eventually, but my lifestyle would be impacted significantly for a good while.

I’m a member of a golf club where I live now and have tons of hobbies/activities back home that are important to me. I’m very involved in the community. Being able to live where you want to is pretty incredible. Don’t take it for granted.

Sure maybe commuting isn’t for everyone, but if you have a lot of options and it’s a quick flight (drivable In absolute emergency) it’s not a big deal. It will suck when your on reserve, no doubt, but once your a line holder It’s pretty simple to get trips that are commutable.

Obviously, you have to be smart and reasonable about it.

If you live in BWI and fly for Alaska commuting to SEA well… your probably gonna wanna kill yourself at some point. Live in BWI based in NYC with any of the legacies? Completely different deal.

If you live in BWI, put your app in with Southwest. PERIOD. Better than commuting to NYC for AA, DL, UA, or B6.

I don't know where you live, CAirBear and how great your commute is - it'd be better if the city you chose to live in was also a Spirit base, no?

Don't uproot a well-established life somewhere to move to a city you don't care for just b/c it's a pilot base for your company. Instead, keep your app updated and get hired by a company that is based in wherever you live, if possible. That's my point.

Lol. My last airline has a base where I live. I no longer work there 🤷🏻‍♂️

My scenario was a simple example. Obviously if you lived in BWI you would try for WN. MIA AA or F9 etc etc.

Glad to see I’m not the only crazy one out there who actually works to live, not live to work…in a city that you have absolutely no desire to live in.
