It used to be in the manual that a spirit pilot in the back for any reason would let the captain know he/she/it was riding in back in case there was any reason to need them. Think it’s gone or not where my bookmark is at least.

Also check credentials even in the back I thought? What’s the story about delta guy who rode us to atl without a medical? Didn’t realize and his CP asked him how he commuted in.. Long story short someone here got an NOI?

Research the United flight and wonder the outcome had those guys not checked in with Al Haynes. Or come to help when called upon!

Exactly! The outcome in Sioux City could’ve been much worse.

I’ll go back to worrying about my ego getting stroked and being on some list.

You said the guy checked in (they got a seat for me in the back) but you didn’t like the way he checked in. So all would have been good since you knew they were back there. No?

Haha. Imagine worrying about being on a “list”.

So was the guy on the Sioux City flight jumpseating or non revving or a positive space dead head? They all have their relevance and level of responsibility. If that guy was Non revving - that dude could have been three sheets to the wind and been doing nothing wrong. Lucky for al Haynes the guy wasn’t - Just playing devil’s advocate

For crying out loud guys, stop checking in with the flight deck while you’re deadheading. It’s totally unnecessary. My mind was blown when I read that our pilots are doing it while deadheading on other airlines.

Did you know that certain airlines allow their pilots to drink while on a DH? Is that who you would want to call to the flight deck when you have an emergency?

I DH one time on another airline and as I was walking off the plane the captain waited for me to get off, he was ****ed that I didn’t check-in with him. I explained that I was DH and had a paid ticket. He didn’t seem to care or buy it. Lol
