Agreed. Last time I had to book my own room was in FLL and had to Uber to get to a hotel 40 minutes away. Company reimbursed everything. Don’t just limit your search to airport hotels with a shuttle as those are first to fill up. Also when trying to contact scheduling email is best.
As soon as they start saying things like “we’re not sure where you’re going right now” and “we are working through the list of affected crew members” I’m out.

Lessons learned. Don't trust that other departments will do what they are getting paid to do. Better CRM so the captain can actually see the problem. Don't assume they can do math with time. Personal minimums on giving the company time for a plan. Make $200-$300k. All good things.

I think the company’s stance on hotels is that if you’re not timed out they don’t have a responsibility to get you in a hotel. Nice huh?
This also goes to how we handle IROP hotels via hotel connections or whatever they call themselves. Many people don’t realize that when you press one on the phone tree you are not getting a spirit employee but an outsourced company that is extremely incompetent and has proven so many times over the years. They want to use hotels in their portfolio to save money instead of getting you something quick. Then all communication done between our crew scheduling and hotel connections and then the hotels is email or messengers while you sit on hold. It’s cumbersome and slow when someone could easily pick up a phone with a credit card number. No major airlines operate this way, only regionals.

All,
Virtual interview is coming up and wanted to see if there is any extra intel I can get beforehand. I feel privileged to even get the interview considering there are several thousand applications and 200ish spots...
I've used aviation interviews for prep but it seems almost exclusively HR questions. I assume if they give you an interview they know you can fly (3 type ratings and 8600TT) so what kind of technical may they ask? Obviously that's almost an impossible question to answer...
Any information is greatly appreciated!

I figured this out AFTER I got hired, and realized how close I'd come to making a HUGE mistake in the interview process by not knowing what they were really looking for. Coming from a military background I had nothing to compare it to so I regurgitated their corporate branding about Spirit being a fun airline to fly on, and then pointed at my resume that showed my instructor experience. It worked, but I was lucky. A more informed approach might be better so don't fixate on the yellow fun factor. It's a ULCC that creates market share wherever they go, the company leadership is solid, and the contract proves that they value quality employees. And your experience fits right in with what will help the company keep doing its thing.
Also, the pilot group has a reputation as being good people, friendly to non-rev jumpseaters and other airline commuters. Those are the people you want to spend your BEST years with, not a bunch of egotistical goobers flying super heavy trans-continental triple whatevers.

Just to be clear, because you got it in a sim isn’t the reason that limitation is on there...
You are allowed to do a circle to land in the sim. I have a type rating in a transport cat aircraft where I did a circle to land...therefor that limitation is not there.
some operations aren’t approved for whatever reason to do circle to land therefor they don’t do it on the type ride.

I did my phone interview on Friday the 2nd. They sent me an invite for a video interview about 4-5 hours later. I did my video interview on the 6th, still waiting to hear back. I told them
I wasn’t able to start until September, don’t know if that’s what is taking a while, but I seem to remember them saying they would get back to me in a week I think. I am just religiously checking my email!

Have you heard back from them? What did they say when you told them you couldn’t start for a while? I have a phone interview next week, won’t be able to take a class until fall. Wondering if I should delay my interview or take it and take a later class if I’m lucky enough to get a job offer.
Actually, just heard back today and got the offer! They had no issues with me starting later in the year. The only thing is you can't schedule your logbook review until you're 60 days from starting. In the email I got today, said to expect further emails around July timeframe. I have heard that the interviews are only good for 6 months, not from a company source though. I believe my buddy there said that. Good luck, very good people to interview with!
