It’s obvious folks don’t know the difference between average line value (AVL) and minimum monthly guarantee (72). They also don’t seem to know that we don’t have any AVL language in our contract other than a max and to be based on historical values to keep us all from flying 99hrs of block every month. If anything the company would prefer to raise the AVL to reduce staffing.

doubtful they will reach the required EIL. Plenty of takers but doubtful 100%. Furloughs will still happen. It’s a plan to mitigate, not eliminate, furloughs. This will allow more people in the lifeboat.

Remember when they asked people to take VIL and after they got a bunch to accept 50hrs they gave everyone else the month off too, but at full pay?
It’s a little like that. Good faith my arse.

The union deal is a win win for those that want it. Glad concessions were off the table so we can keep our place as the 2nd lowest paid A320 operator.

Although I am one hoping to get enough people to possibly save my job, when they dropped everyone a trip and allowed people to pick up trips again I refrained from doing so as I thought it was a ****ty thing to do... it should have been opened up for everyone... I picked up nothing and won’t pick up anything in open time until all furloughed pilots are back (if I survive this one myself) best wishes to all and thanks to all pilots who take the leave and help us lower seniority guys possibly keep a roof over our head.

I want to take the 8 months off. But yeah making that call in 4 days is going to be hard. My plan is to fly corporate or cargo for the 8 month EIL, so I can double dip on income. The email made it sound like we are able to do other commercial flying.
im not wanting to not work at all, but at least do something else, especially if I can help someone else out.

I got fooled by that. Helped out a few months to see everyone’s line get dropped, Pay protected, then picked up from open time to build up to 120+ while others sat at 50 “helping “ out. I hope y’all aren’t the same 120+ Hr group who was gloating about your payday only to be asking senior guys to take EIL now.

That didn’t just happen at Spirit. Welcome to the world of trying to operate an airline in the year 2020. Also not everyone needs 120+ hours of credit or cares if others get it. They want the reassurance of not having to commute with limited options or capped flights or they’re taking care of someone elderly or high risk at home. Those people will gladly take their 50 hours and sit on the bench.
