I see someone has been in the industry for more than ten years.

Nothing at all wrong with it. I only mentioned it because it would kind of suck to get awarded a leave to only find out a couple days later you are downgraded or furloughed.

Have you been reading the ALPA emails? There has been a few that have come from SV that have said any concessions are off the table. I don’t think any alv lowering will happen.

Exactly. They have been pretty clear in their stance no confessions of any kind.

I think we should all take a breath and realize that this sort of thing doesn’t normally happen. Early outs won’t work for us, the mass majority of you are younger. If EIL lowers the furlough number by even 1, that a good thing. They could have just done a straight up furlough, and that’s exactly what has happened in the past. Airlines are going into survival mode, they will do anything they must, to survive this. If you think you are anything other than a part of a machine, you are mistaken. This EIL is a good thing, be grateful

I don’t think anyone has said it’s bad, just that it should be done based off the master seniority list, same as furloughs are. I assume they aren’t going to furlough folks based on their “position” (base seniority) so why are we offering eil’s that way?

Just to make sure:
Lowering ALV does not mean getting less money. They could lower ALV to 50 hours, and have to pay everybody 72hrs.

Because it was a negotiated agreement. Perhaps the company didn’t want the EIL’s based on global seniority. Should the NC committee have held out and potentially scuttled the agreement on that issue?

Do we know that if the EIL numbers are reached based on the email we got today that no furloughs will happen?

I was not in on the negotiations and haven’t asked anyone that was. But I’d guess that since this is viewed as a temporary event ( less than a year) , they are trying to minimize the displacements. Those numbers were pretty specific to each base, time is running out to do something. This is what they came up with, I’d say it’s way better than nothing. Call a rep and ask why it was done this way. Those guys have always been up front when I’ve asked a question. No, I’m not one of them
