So yes, if a junior pilot is awarded an EIL they are still subject to furlough.
Participation by senior pilots in the EIL program will be encouraged by the union and management during the town hall meeting on Monday.
Which makes it even more stupid they’re limiting it based on seat/base. This seems more and more like just a ploy for the company to save a few bucks and still furlough as many as they initially wanted.

Okay Manipulator that’s enough complaining. You complained about the lack of information from the union while they hammered out this agreement and now you’re complaining about the furlough mitigation program they negotiated. Is there anything you won’t complain about?
The EIL/VIL program is a good faith effort negotiated in collaboration with management and the union to reduce furloughs. For the program to be most effective senior pilots must participate. Not everything is a conspiracy theory.

seeing as there isn’t a lot of them, I personally think they will sell out regardless of how it’s done. Could be wrong

I agree. We are going to furlough based on the master seniority list, why would we not bid for eil’s using the same master seniority list.

Some of you guys amaze me....ask around the industry and see who else secured this kind of paid leave for their pilots.

Why did the EILs use base staffing and not seniority list staffing? Same reason why the VILs use base and not seniority list staffing. If they need 200 CAs to take a leave, what good would it be if the majority came from a base that they did not even need the greatest numbers of reductions in? They are trying to trim the excess per base, this is how the company saves money and in turn makes it an option for them to even entertain this. Would you rather no furlough mitigation? Just furlough 30% like Frontier is doing right now?

This is what I was thinking. You could be awarded an EIL in your seat/base and then end up being furloughed or downgraded.

So what’s the problem with that? You either get furloughed/downgraded or you are part of the solution and helped save a job or two. If you get downgraded after being awarded an EIL you can chose to cancel it and come back and fly full time as an FO or continue on your EIL at an FO payrate.

I'll just say that historically "good faith" hasn't meant a whole lot to this management group. Last time we (when I was there) did a "Quid Pro Quo", we did the quid and they never followed through with the quo.

How long after the EIL bid closes before there is talk of reducing guarentee? Has the union made it clear that this is off the table? I would be more than a little upset about passing up an EIL only to have ALVs reduced below 72.
