So are you supposed to find some non flying job while on furlough at Spirit?
I wouldn’t submit a letter of resignation unless I was serious about it. Doesn’t seem worth the risk!

I don’t have to make that decision, but some may have it in the near future. And, while I think things may come back relatively quickly, a quick recall may not be forthcoming.

you do what you have to do. Welcome to Aviation. I survived 9/11, and 2008. I’ll survive this to, whether it be by getting an honest flying job or finding something else to do. Such is life.

but you can’t expect a company to falsify a document.

I honestly don’t think he understood the question. Just my observation. With that said, I wouldn’t expect Spirit to lie about something or to be like, “hey there, we’ve received your resignation and will ignore it. For crew Scheduling, press one”

Agreed! I certainly won’t be resigning my seniority to take a crappy flying job in the hopes they’d overlook it.

I snagged an EIL and could not be happier. Luckily for me I don't have a ton of debt or other financial obligations. Now if all of these borders would just open up...

It’s a moot point anyways. Who’s hiring?

And with some 12,000 equally or more qualified pilots all suddenly hitting the streets, who do you think the box haulers are going to put their odds on; someone from a defunct airline with no place to return to (XJT, Compass etc etc) or someone furloughed from an airline everyone expects to be one of the first to recall?

If you do find yourself suddenly on the street, use this time to figure out something different. Build houses. Management at Amazon. Start a business. There are hundreds if not thousands of directions one could go from here, none of which are aviation related but all of which can use the skills gained from the years you spent in this industry.

There are literally millions of possibilities out there. Believe it or not, you can do more than just fly airplanes.

Except maybe you Riddle kids. You guys are screwed. Sorry. 🤷‍♂️

Congrats. We have a pretty big country here at home that’s incredibly diverse with many great state and national parks. That’s where I’d start.
