Well now hopefully ALPA can do a financial analysis and compare the cost savings of all the VIL/EIL and compare that to a straight furlough of all of the bottom 806. It was unlikely that spirit would furlough all 806 but that’s the only number we can use.

Once we know the two numbers we can see how honest Spirit is being with this program or if they were interested in double dipping.

Congratulations to all that were awarded EILs that wanted them and to all those that did it only to help those below them. As someone that has been furloughed in the past I know I would’ve loved to have seen a program like this at the time.

Town hall said they were looking at 600 furlough's pre-VIL/EIL. So I would call that the starting point.

Really? I took a eil because it worked best for my family, but I wouldn’t judge anyone who didn’t.

It wasn’t overly informative. Hit my “you know” quota for the year in about 5 minutes.

I wasn't in love with the answer given when mgt was asked to ignore resignation letters of those who want to pursue other flying on furlough or long extended leaves.

yeah I was wondering too if the company would double dip. However I have a good feeling. And that’s not just from what I heard from the van driver.

I’m not sure what answer they could have given. If the role was reversed they would expect the same. They asked me for a formal letter from my previous employer layoff. I understand we don’t have transferable skills for good paying jobs but what company wants to hire/train someone that would be leaving in (possibly) a few months?

Serious question. If they are knowingly going to ignore your letter of resignation, that’s falsifying a document, which could be considered fraud. Do you really expect them to do that? If it’s something anyone is worried about, they should type up a letter of resignation titled to Spirit Airlines, give it to their new employer, and never submit it to Spirit (but that didn’t work out so well for some of the guys in the last new hire class for Spirit). That way it puts it on you, and not the company. It’s insane to think you can submit a LOR to Spirit and have them just disregard it.

It really isn’t, and was a professional courtesy extended by several legacies after the last few major downturns.

So are you supposed to find some non flying job while on furlough at Spirit?
