Of course, the vested amount is the amount thats yours. 6 years to be fully vested and keep spirits Contributions. 20% each year starting after year 2

This is why I was saying that the union should have been addressing this stuff. Not every airline pilot is a financial wizard or stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night. Some of this information is elementary, but some of it would be really good for our group to know what avenues they have if needed. Especially after yesterday when Ted said that some would not be eligible for unemployment depending on their state and not being employed a year here.

Agreed, I’ve been disappointed with the lack of communication by the union.

Spirit ALPA and ALPA National have sent communication about 401k loan and early withdrawal rules as early as April. If folks choose not to read it that’s one thing but it’s not for lack of communication. Also, yes it would be elementary that you cannot be loaned or withdraw money that is not vested. Our vesting schedule is easily found in the contract. Again reading. I don’t think anyone is expected to be a financial wizard, but I don’t think anyone comes to work for the fun of it. We come to be compensated. How we are compensated I would think would be the first stop someone would make when educating themselves.

I’m sorry I know everyone is dealing with a lot but it just amazes me how many pilots I run into that don’t know how we get paid, how our health insurance works, what our vesting schedule is, how vacation work, sick accrual, etc etc etc. It’s like what do you come to work for? The pure joy of flying an airplane in cruise for hours. YGTFKM.

I’m also surprised at the number of pilots who thought spirit was immune and that we would never furlough because “it’s a united problem.” And I’m a little surprised at the number who still think even though warn letters went out we won’t furlough. I’m loathe to use the term *lucky* but that’s what we have been because we had a good 6 month notice that we would probably be shrinking and furloughing thanks to the cares act. I have friends whose jobs disappeared overnight so I have been glad for the extra time to get my finances in order.

Breaking news this morning said Dr. Fauci says they think a vaccine is likely by the end of the year.

I heard the game show The Price Is Right is going to start advertising Spirit Airlines in their travel trip winnings.

I guess George will say something like “You and a guest will fly round trip couch on Spirit Airlines from Los Angeles to Cancún, Mexico and spend 5 nights......airline service curtious of Spirit Airlines” and they will show the Spirit airlines plane on their TV map.
