Nothing in this industry is ever guaranteed, and the music could stop next week. I'm not typing all of this to say you should apply here, but at least take that into consideration. From the looks of it you're starting at Envoy soon, and barring some kind of black swan economic event you're probably way better off over there. But if you were thinking of applying because you live near a non-legacy domicile like MCO and would prefer driving to work for the rest of your career, then it wouldn't be incredibly intelligent to wait and "see what happens."
Hanging out at the regionals while waiting for pay raises at your target career destination is the most dangerous game.

The latest what if bid for the displacement had the junior captain at just over 1.5 years. Granted, this isn’t accurate, but it gives you insight into the situation. This is likely due to most of the attrition coming from relatively senior FOs and junior captains. Look at the fleet plan on the Spirit investor portal. Lots of planes are coming.

Yep, I'll let you know the exact # when we see the final bid. People are waiting to upgrade because of the wonderful reserve rules we have but with the merger on the horizon guys will grab the first upgrade to secure pay and seat when the SLI comes along hoping to retain it. So the numbers will temporarily go up.

The grid is contractually compliant at the start of Initial Open Time, but becomes almost exclusively red at the close. Only the top 10 percent are able to take advantage of the QOL this hard fought provision provides.
This is due to low FO staffing, and because of this, the grid starts with a net reserves of only 0 or 1 for many of the days. There are too many open duty periods compared to the number of available pilots.
By the time the first 5 pilots start adjusting their schedule (dropping most trips so they can become available for premium trips) the grid is almost completely red.

this is highly base dependent

I think it's great. The more people that shun Spirit to stay at their regionals the better message it sends to management. Just like the free market economy utopia that every 5th captain preaches at me on some transcon redeye.
CA pay rates at a regional now are great. To not want to go back to our new hire training pay, first year pay and medical benefits farce is totally understandable. 15%DC is great but at what expense? Not being able to pay your rent? The fact that you absolutely need to dip into savings to come to Spirit and to potentially rely on cobra makes us total bottom feeders, even when compared with regionals.
The only reason anyone comes here now is for legacy flow and honestly It's blowing my mind that anyone is coming to class at all.

I’ve been hearing this a lot out on the line. Guys concerned about their current seat impacting their placement on the SLI. As far as I understand it ALPA merger policy stovepipes the seniority list so the actual seat you’re currently sitting in shouldn’t matter in regards to the SLI. The only time the seat you’re sitting in would matter is if we were merging with a non ALPA carrier. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
