How much is short call vs. long call? Does long call go senior?

And, this is not for the email quoted above, but a gotcha example would have been if you all said the company just made more days red and tried to make the union deal with it.
1. Totally depends on base, but I would think right around a year in most of them, perhaps close to 1.5-2 years in the senior bases. This obviously will change if the hiring/aircraft order predictions come true, in which case that number would go down.
2. I would think it is close to 80/20 SC/LC. LC goes senior in my base.

Dont get me wrong, I am not saying that these are deal breakers for coming here, but the reserve rules could be improved.
1. Allow us a certain amount of reserve days a year to drop, or even better (x) amount of reserve blocks to drop. It would be nice to know that you could get your kids birthday or a friends wedding off in advance rather than hope and pray you get lucky with bidding. Sure, if its your wedding the chiefs will let you drop apparently but there are more events in most of our lives we would like off.
2. The bucket system is not fun, reserve should go out in seniority order.

So in regards to dropping trips, can we just drop as many trips in a month as needed, as long as the days are green? Or would that be frowned upon by the company? A call to the chief’s office?

How would it get deducted from your paycheck if you dropped a trip?
Or if you dropped to 0?
I’ve heard responses, but just trying clarify.

Also, if you have a very important single-day event a few weeks just after you are projected to be off OE, or even during OE, would it be possible to request that day off?
Thanks!

Frowned upon by the company? HAHAHA...this isnt SkyWest.

You drop whatever you want, its contractual. They can suck it if they dont like pilots using their contractual and arbitrated red/green system.

Drop to 0, you get $0. I assume you'll have to cut them some cash to cover medical if you drop to zero. Not trying to get deep into this hypothetical but you would owe them back the 36 hour advance on guarantee for that month. But its zero pay.

You can request that day, but they are under no requirement to honor it. Best to keep ahead of the schedule and talk to crew train before its on your OE schedule and when released, talk to a crew scheduling supervisor the minute youre released, and ask if they can honor that day with your build up line you will get once signed off OE. CrewTrain controls your schedule on OE and Crew Scheduling controls your build up line once the paperwork is submitted. You can wait a few days, you have to act quick when released to the line. BUT once you get your build up line, you can drop whatever trips if they are green because you are using line holder rights for that month.

lowest pay check I had was $200 when I was on first year pay, and that was because there was a couple of trips i couldn't drop. I paid my sitter more than I was making, so why go to work? You can only drop if the grid is green, do NK saves money by you dropping, they are paying the reserve guy already, might as well fly him. You credit for the month starts with whatever you are awarded in your monthly bid, and if below, bumped up to guarantee (not likely to happen). From that point, any trade (other crew member), swap drop ,add (open time), the credit for those trips will be added/subtracted from your initial monthly credit. Your last day of the month paycheck is for half guarantee (36 hours), your 15th day pay check is for 36 hours +/- all your transactions from the previous month. If you fly your 80 hour line in September, and drop to 0 in October, on the 15th of October you get your extra hours for September so (72/2)+(80-72)=44 hours. on the 15 0f November you get your "extra" hours for October (72/2)+(0-72)=-72, so you owe the company 72 hours of pay. For me it was subtracted of my next check...

Keep in mind that you don’t see any of these benefits until you hold a line. Reserves can’t drop and it’s difficult to swap.

Got it! Thanks.

Any idea of how long before being able to hold a line in DFW? Or quickest base to be able to hold a line nowadays? Been reading the previous threads but that info might be outdated now.
Thanks again.

Also, do we get any kind of allowance for uniforms, medicals?
What uniform options are there? When do we get them?
Thanks

Unfortunately, new hires must purchase their initial uniform. After 18 months, the company will supply eight shirts, two ties, and two slacks. At 36 months, the company will supply a blazer, leather jacket, or Karbon jacket, I believe.

You will receive wings and epaulets sometime during training.

No allowance for medical, only passport renewals.

You can also buy your Karbon jacket now, keep the receipt, and submit it when your at 36 month seniority and get it reimbursed. You don't have to wait until your 36 month mark to buy it and get it reimbursed.
