My tin foil hat theory: If this passes, the majority of our overnights will change to fit the 18 hour criteria, and our duty days will get longer. Not more productive. Credit hours will remain the same, but 2-3 hour sits at the outstations will increase in order to keep the overnights short.

Big time. Think of the money they spend on Supershuttles alone. HUGE cost savings to the Company.

Never thought of that, but you make very valid points....... not sure how the road show would answer this
Que the yes voters complaining in your theory..........

I'm not trying to hide behind a screen name at all. Shouldn't be too hard to figure out who I am. And I'm available to answer any and all questions you may have (NK pilots only).
It just ****es me off some of these folks spread blatant misinformation and opinion while pretending to be experts. That's not right nor fair.
But I can't really get mad at them- they are only as influential as their audience allows.
I guess it's just frustrating to me how many people bait click the sexy information or what fits their narrative versus finding out the real facts and making an educated and informed decision. Won't read a Union email, but will certainly troll APC for their "Information"
For the record, I'm not trying to sell things one way or the other- I just want accurate, factual information being provided and people basing their votes on that and what's best for them and their families in a fair up or down manner.
I'm a yes and that's because I'm educated as to what's in the TA and based on that information, this deal is acceptable for me and my family.

Then it’s a good thing that the union has a say in pairing constructions. Not to mention the 2:1 duty rig would make those long duty days with sits more efficient. If we started having 12 hour duty days then it’ll be 18 hour three days and 24 hour four days. Yes sitting would suck, but the trips will be worth more and give me more time at home.
Anyone else notice, 5 hour duty period average isn’t mentioned, just minimum 5 hours per duty period?

This company circumnavigates the union constantly. Just look at all of the grievances.
I see nothing in this TA where the union can prevent abuse of all of the paranoid theories I've come up with over the past few days. And to hear the feedback from the roadshow today was "They probably won't do that..." YGBSM!
Oh yeah, don't forget about all of the protections that we lose when we picket 8 years from now while they drag this cost-neutral contract out til infinity. (1-D-g, 1-E-6, 2-BE) Will the Union have a say on that? No, because we voted that say away.

I was told that changing the hotel overnight threshold was unscientifically what the pilot group wanted (drive length being a top complaint) and that it equates to about $10milion savings (per year if I was told correctly). This is what I was told over a year ago. So the pilots wanted it and it saved the company a ton of money so the question was what were we going to get in return to share in those savings. What did we get?
I have no problem with the threshold changing personally. But I understand that’s not everyone. I hate the drives and tend to get nauseous in traffic. I want a nice hotel with a place to have a real meal to spend my whopping per diem. I’m not on vacation. Southwest doesn’t have long hotels and they don’t stay at dumps.
