With 2020 being so close, that's my guess as to why they agreed to arbitration at all. Our contract still brought the industry up significantly as a whole, and although many of us were frustrated at the outcome, we are thankful for our hardworking reps and their dedication to our combined pilot group. We will not make the arbitration mistake in 2020 and we will be more unified than ever.

That said...If we are supposedly the floor as you put it...then where does this current contract put you guys if voted in, the basement? Why settle for any less than ALK achieved? Why take large scheduling concessions? The huge QOL hit? Why give up PBS without getting something SUBSTANTIAL in return? Why settle for anything? The point is, in this job market with cheap gas, a strong economy and lots of options for us as pilots...you simply don't need to.

There's no reason you should be able to make more your first year at a regional than at a major. Ever. That's not how it's supposed to work. Do you disagree? If not, how can you vote yes?
You guys got hosed by the arbitrator, it sucks! It also sucks for us and JetBlue. The arbitrators award, which is precedent setting and referable under the RLA basically cemented AK at the bottom of the legacy carriers and created a ceiling for Spirit/JetBlue/F9. I'd be surprised to see JetBlue top AK's rates.

We would have easily achieved ALASKAS rates if we gave up 4-days off and conceded our healthcare to something on par to JetBlues. Give up 4-days off, healthcare and have ZERO scope like Alaska and we would have easily surpased ALASKAS “rates”.

So for any Alaska guy or JB guy to come on here and bash this TA is LAUGHABLE.

I could more than make up the increased healthcare cost with Alaska pay.

What the Alaska arbitration did was convince the NMB that for some reason the value of the contract should be related to the size of the carrier. It’s insanity.

I was referring to combination of that and 4-days off, but to play devils advocate they still have line bidding (not TXR pay) so maybe not that valuable to them.

Really.. 2-3 more days off per month and you’re willing to give up $20K - $30K per year?

Your day-off value ~ $700 - $ 1,100

Anyone actually know what an average Alaska pilot is paying for their medical insurance? I bet it’s much less than you’re willing to give up

I'm still trying to digest these payscales. That alone has me strongly leaning NO. I know we aren't going to get what the "Big Boys" are getting at AA/UAL, but to be $40-$55 dollars off, flying more seats than them, is just selling ourselves short. If we were say $20, $30 below them, that would be more "industry standard" but the gap with this scales in this TA are just too great.

But it seems that train has left the station as most of who I talk to seem to just accept that is the best we will get....

check your 2017 pay. see how much you made and divide the amount of block hours you actually flew. compare that hourly rate to the new numbers because with this contract you can say adios to soft time-----

The pay scales are bad, some of the fo rates at dos are below what JetBlue makes. And they left the crappy training pay in place
