I wonder if the clowns that decided it was a great idea to choose this engine option are being held accountable?

Uh... Right. Gotta say that's kind of dumb.

Now, if they kept taking deliveries or didn't hold airbus' feet to the fire, that would be irresponsible. The aviation world is watching how airbus treats little old Spirit as we deal with these motors, and certainly going after the airline execs who bought the first couple NEOs would send the exact opposite message. Airbus and P&W need to make it right, not only for us but for the entire industry.

I was gonna be snarky about asking for a screenshot of your harvard MBA and your PhD in propulsive engineering since you're second-guessing decisions made and work done by an awful lot of extremely competent people (airbus and P&W, not spirit, duh) but hey it's thanksgiving and I'm thankful I didn't have to abort a takeoff yesterday, and double-thankful I get to spend today with my fam.

Not defending Spirit execs, but the dumpster-fire that is the PW1000G is not their fault. On paper it was superior to the CFM LEAP, and its not the first geared turbofan ever made (as some have appeared to speculate).

P&W is making Spirit whole. They've been paying for lost revenue, so Spirit has no issues. $$$$ keeps coming in!

I guess I struck a nerve. I have an engineering question for you,.. if you park a “NEO” on the remote ramp at DFW for a couple of months, Take the engines off and cover up the airplane in shrink wrap is it still called a “NEO”?
