I think his point was that if it makes sense money wise they will make it “safe”

You get a AA seniority number and upgrade at Envoy very FAST, you also get a $40k signing bonus, and looking at the numbers at AA the average age of a pilot is 58 years old! That 5 year flow will certainly come down! So, you can be at AA in 5yrs or less and get a signing bonus and be a CA at Envoy in months making more than Spirit!
Not sure why everyone in the Spirit forum has such a boner for Envoy. And where are you getting that $40k bonus number from lol

Hell, AA owns PSA now too why not PSA?

Well the op wanted to be based in south Florida. Envoy has an MIA base and PSA does not, hence the Envoy discussion.

Not a direct reply to you, but couple of clicks over to the Envoy forum and few things become apparent
- flow isn't anywhere near 5-6 years at this time and not overly likely to get there from 8 any time soon
- MIA base isn't huge by any standards. 45CA 45FO if I remember right
- 1000 hrs of prior 121/10+ 135 and you're basically force upgraded to LGA standby CA limbo for the next 3-4 years

Not all peachy

So, hypothetically, you get hired at Spirit, does that then cause you to cease to exist?

Picking any regional over Spirit is dumb in my opinion. All flying where your company does not sell its own tickets come with major risk. The whipsaw and constant movement of airplanes and contracts means that one day your regional is on top and the next you are looking at a bankruptcy contract. Spirit is on the verge of a contract that will make you a lot more money than any regional. Not saying Spirit is the best choice right now compared to other majors but picking Spirit is a no brainer. Some Spirit pilots just don't want you to come here temporarily until a new contract is in place.

I won’t comment on most of what you said, except I would not characterize our position as ‘on the verge of a new contract.’ Unless a verge can be years long.

I would say if you have a choice between Envoy or Spirit (and it's your first 121 job). Envoy is a obvious answer. Quicker upgrade a flow (of sorts) to AA. Why come here? Anyone hired now won't upgrade without an aircraft order and even if spirit did order more planes at this point they are in line behind frontier who ordered a collective 450. Spirits not getting new Airbus's anytime soon, so no more upgrades. And of course the complete crap show that is contract negotiations.
