I think most people coming to Spirit have that 50% raise in mind. If you look at year one salary only then you aren't thinking clearly. In 10 years you could potentially be making 160k. It's not even close to the worst thing in the industry. Not close to the best either.
Point being, this is a major airline pilot job with 235 lives of responsibility and should be compensated at the very top of the industry along with those on the same equipment and routes. That type of compensation should allow the company to be selective and cherry pick highly qualified candidates that are also a good fit. Attracting only those that are under qualified and looking for a life raft because it’s not the worst is a recipe for a litteral disaster that puts everyone’s future at risk. It’s complete BS and it’s ****ing me off.
If you want a schedule there are plenty of regional jobs out there that pay more than Spirit and have Florida bases and have flow through agreements

Maybe this is why guys are busting in record numbers; too much time on the forums and too little time in the AOM.
You are kind of exhausting and you aren't even in CASS yet

What industry? U.S Major airline pilot? Yeah it is. The only thing worse is Frontier. If you’re considering all the rag tag 121 and 135 jobs out there full of guys that decided they didn’t need to go to college then yeah maybe it’s not the worst. And in 10 years $160k isn’t gonna buy a family of 4 much. Especially if you want the kids to go to college and yourself to retire one day.

I agree that there should be qualified guys. 2k is a bit light on time for sure. With a 50% raise it makes it a career stop though. Top captain would be maing over 200k. Of course a FedEx captain is making 300k+. An A320 UAL captain is making 250k. This is not accounting for retirement of course which is much much better than Spirits or JBLU or Vigin or whoever. Unfortunatly though an LCC will never make what the Legacy carriers make. But in a downturn the legacies will layoff 2000 guys, where airlines like Jetblue and Southwest have had very few if any layoffs. That is a benifit. LCCs are the furture until airplanes fly themselves which is the plan. By the way any pilot caught helping in the development of such technology should be taken out back and beaten in front of their children.

I wouldn't worry about it for another 150 years.
