LEC 77 Election Thread
I figured it's been too quiet on here regarding the nomination and election process going on in DFW and LAS. Hopefully people are paying attention. How do the candidates feel about getting our own DFW LEC finally? Congrats to JA for making it through his term without being recalled!

to the 77 LEC meeting recently held in DFW? About 5. Wasn’t that the argument? Unfair there are too many meetings in LAS and not allowing the DFW pilots to be involved?

As far as the low attendance goes, why should that surprise anybody? They don’t want our voice, so why give them any credibility by showing up?
But, you guys are right. Nobody cares. Good people want no part of it all, and the choices we have this election cycle just want to be part of the entrenched swamp Spirit ALPA has become.

You conveniently left out the fact close to 90 DFW based pilots showed up when the resolution was presented to the 77 reps. Arguably, the meeting had the highest attendance ever witnessed at a regularly held SPA local meeting. The resolution passed unanimously, only to witness all six representatives pull a “Comey” and modify the original resolution so it had no chance of getting approved by National.

But the DFW guys were motivated at that meeting, and now they aren't, based on that recent turnout. So if 90 pilots turning out a year ago is now 5, what does that say about the support at this point?
I think most guys realize that NOTHING will happen as it relates to new LECs until a contract is done. After that, expect to see every base will have an LEC and the instructor pilots will have representation too. ORD is now larger than DFW, and DTW is close to the same size. So expect that they will have representation solely for their base if DFW gets theirs.

You mean I left out the fact that there was a high turnout with the free lunch meeting? Pilots love free food, so I'm sure many loved that part of it.

I agree that this apathetic group gets the 'leadership' it deserves. Hopefully whoever wins in 77 isn't beholden to the same old 'swamp' that's been in for a while. If this bargaining isn't settled soon, expect this issue of additional LEC's to resurface. The passage of time and growth of this pilot group may demand it. The status quo favors the swamp.

Please explain why any of us should care about a DFW LEC. You seem to be very motivated for some reason but explain to the rest of the group why we need this. Remember that a large margin of NK pilots don't know what LEC actually means.i could honestly not care less to see DFW get A LEC. I really don't care

[QUOTE=lowandslow;2458332]You've already made it clear how you feel about DFW pilots. We're the biggest bunch of conspiracy theorist goobers in the system. The DFW LEC movement was borne of a situation where our voices were not allowed as simply as LAS based pilots' were a few years ago then were not given the alternating LEC meeting in DFW as promised. It's disappointing to hear the low turnout but curious if anyone has analytics as to what percentage of DFW pilots were actually off on the date selected. I know no DFW reps were. [/QUOTE
Well yes you may know how I feel but the real question is how many new people even know what LEC means. Please explain to the new guys what a LEC actually is and why they should care.

In attendance were 2 LAS based reps (Conspiracy!!!!!) DFW based scheduling chairman, 2 guys running for CA 77 REP, FO running for FO rep, and I think 2 line pilots who are not in the union or running for a union position.
This is a standard turnout for most LEC meetings. So its not surprising, but doesn't scream of a motivated group.
But like others have said, LEC construction is so far down my list of priorities right now for this MEC and pilot group.
