Hello PBS; Goodbye QOL
Every one better hope the pay raise equals an upgraded house payment in FLL. Because you will all have to move to base before you can have any QOL with PBS.
If you think that you’ll be able to make more than guarantee at those PBS rates, you’re fooling yourself.

I haven’t come across a single person that said they will vote yes on a contract with PBS. Everyone that a have talked to knows the value of our current line bidding and how well it works with our other work rules. The regional airlines have shown how PBS will ruin QOL.

Pbs will not not work properly with our other work rules. To build a desirable schedule with pbs we are going to have to WAIVE many of our limiting work rules.
Currently, the company has the burden of building our lines working within the confines of our contract. This results in additional soft time for the pilot.
PBS SOLE PURPOSE IS TO SAVE MONEY, ELIMINATE ALL OPENTIME AND REDUCE STAFFING NEEDS PER A/C. why else would the company be pushing pbs so much.

Just an FYI, I work for AA. We went from paper bidding to PBS I think last year at my base. I bid relatively junior, 60%-70% in seat. I try not to work so bid long call reserve most months but have bid lines too if I want to get away for the month.
Overall PBS has made my bidding life much simplier. I simply have a saved bidding preference which automatically gets put in each month. It basically says give me long call working M-Thr each week. Under line bidding I would always end up working at least one weekend maybe two. Now, zero.
The only thing PBS took away from me was the ability to bid >6 days on reserve between the beginning and end of months. This gave me an extra day off some months. The trade off was I would have to work weekends. So I don’t really consider losing this a negative.

We are not AA. PBS will be a disaster at Spirit unless the union has full control and every parameter and I mean every parameter is agreed apon prior to implementing the switch.
Also, lets not forget scope , LTD and industry standard pay before we will ever let the company gain the tremendous efficiencies pbs would provide.

While PBS is better for month to month bidding (at AA at least) it’s a huge manning concession.
There is basically no open time and premium trips have all but disappeared. There is a reason every management team wants it.

You need to take the good with the (perceived) bad if you want to match legacy pay. Or remain in perpetual negotiations.
