Hello PBS; Goodbye QOL

They shoved PBS up our buts here at AA in the BK process. It has not been as terrible as I thought. For example: Being junior I did a lot of Manaus flying. All nighter coming home. Pretty horrible as a line of that was about 8 trips. With PBS I have drastically reduced the amount of all nighters I do in a month to about zero. There may be one or two that show up on a sched, but then I can usually trade them off..Quality of life on a narrow body generally sucks anyway, line bidding or not. Yes you lose training, end of month and vaca conflicts witch sucks, but depending on the software it does not have to be the end of the world. Not sure I would draw a line in the sand JUST for PBS. Especially if you get money, calendar day, keep your 4 days off etc..

I haven’t heard if we are going to go back to true block or better per leg like they paid for 6 years yet six months ago decided to follow our crappy contract and pay block or better on a duty period basis.
Example: two leg day. Underblock leg one by :20 and over block leg two by :21. Instead of getting 21 min extra credit for the duty period you get one. It’s a racket! Get anything less than the :20 on leg two an you get zero extra.
If it’s the other way around and you over block leg one you are taking money out of your own pocket if you don’t fly at least block on leg two. Doesn’t really incentivize an on time operation

I fly a 320 on the same routes to the same airports as all of the other airlines and the one I work for isn’t distressed and can afford to pay industry leading and still be very profitable.
The lives in the back of a Spirit plane are no less valuable than those on any other jet and we carry more of them.

Fedex has line bidding
Too bad there's no direct entry captains at Delta

Sadly, ex-mediators (arbitrators) don't think that and the most recent decision just goes to show that. I hope she sees your side and rules towards the pilot group. Just keep in mind that the same people who made the AS decision were in her shoes in the past. A tiger doesn't change its stripes

What’s the negotiating status as of now, when’s the next date of sessions?

She’s a mediator and there’s nothing to rule on as far as arbitration. Just saying that current arbitrators making case decisions used to be mediators and on the NMB. If someone is going to look for guidance, wouldn’t this be an area they look?
