Talk about out of touch with reality!
Same airplane, same routes, same pay!?!
Master seniority list and all pilots work for ALPA!?!
What fantasy world do you people live in?
This is why you’re sitting waiting for a contract that will never come and you’re not, as Eddie Murphy would say, getting the GI Joe with the Kung Fu Grip for Christmas.
Get real!!!

You guys keep saying hired by different airlines.
Ideally ALPA would do the hiring with airline input and you are placed on a master seniority list. At that point you’d bid for a vacancy, say
FEDEX MEM 777 CA as your first choice and Mesa ORD CRJ200 FO as your last choice. The pay rates for equipment would be different but otherwise the contract and work rules would be the same. During vacancy bids you would be able to other fleets and if your seniority holds it.
Now, Lets say United needed to furlough 1,000 Pilots is where it would get tricky if there aren’t 1000 vacancies elsewhere. Preventing a massive training bubble across all airlines while also furloughing those most junior on the master seniority list even if they aren’t necessarily at united.
That would be the ideal setup that way it wouldn’t matter who you work for because you actually work for ALPA, you just happen to be holding Delta NYC 717 CA right now. You don’t have to worry if you are hitching your cart to today’s winner and tomorrow’s goat.

The idea isn't for some fantasy list, it's to be compensated for your experience.

Second year FO's at Delta make more than many of our captains. Almost as good, no?

I came from the PBS world and I put a lot into learning how to bid. I usually got what I wanted or swapped when open time came up. If red/green still exists with 4 days (jr guys can waive to get a line) all you have left is vacay touch. Seriously, is this not the easiest career on the planet? I get a vacation every month and spend the rest of the month sitting on my ass flying from one meal to another. The smart thing is to up the ask and get paid a lot more.

The guy that delivered both of my children probably thinks his job is easy. He shows up after tons of work done by nurses and staff, catches the baby and goes home. That’s obviously an overly simplistic description of the vast amount of knowledge and experience he has and uses on the job daily and I doubt he describes his profession that way. And he sure as hell doesn’t offer his services at a discount.
You do nothing but devalue the profession by saying it’s easy when it’s clearly not!

if it were easy anyone could do it. It seems easy to you because you are a highly trained professional so act like one by knowing your worth. And the last time it was down to mins in blowing snow at night in lbe i know i sure wasn’t thinking “man this is easy”. Those are the days you get paid for.

The guy likes his job and it being “easy”
at this point isn’t a mark of the job itself, but the skill achieved to this point. That was his point. He didn’t imply it was easy like counting to 10 or pouring a glass of water.
At this point in the career you can say it’s easy, because it is. And the beauty is other people can’t walk in and do it because of the thousands of hours it takes to make it easy. It’s supposed to be easy at this point. It’s easy because we have earned it to be easy. That’s the thing about being a professional, it’s easy to the professional where as it’s magic to others.
And yes, even when it’s “blowing snow in LBE” as you say, it isn’t hard because my (our) skill set allows it to not be hard whereas it would be fatal bloodshed for others. See the difference?

I’ll rephrase, it’s not hard work flying 1-2 legs a day 15 days a month compared to 60 hrs a week and 4 days off per month like my wife does. I make more money and she will work less. That improves our quality of life as does a real LTD and scope language that will protect our future. QOL means different things to different people.
