I’m not sure why I’m even wasting time w/ you but if you talked to someone who left a certain one of those “big 4” 20 year ago for any of the other 3 what do you think they’d have to say about that. Definitely not saying we are going to be WN but they were once viewed the same way. Cattle car?

I love how management cried to the NMB that their business model is to pay lower wages.

Really?? As if that is something unique to only our business model? You mean everyone elses business model is ‘aim to pay more for labor than really needed’.

I’m sick of hearing the “business model” excuse. Every business’ model is keep expenses as low as possible. Nothing new here, we didn’t invent this concept.

That same management also thought it would be great idea to bring in a CEO from a failed airline and then pay him double the amount the CEO at SouthWest makes lol.

So if an airline decides to be an all premium first class airline then the pilots should be paid the most? Different level of service right? In that case corporate pilots should make more than anyone.

Go get bent buddy.

I fly a 320 on the same routes to the same airports as all of the other airlines and the one I work for isn’t distressed and can afford to pay industry leading and still be very profitable.

The lives in the back of a Spirit plane are no less valuable than those on any other jet and we carry more of them.

You should stay flying aircraft. It's about P&L! We have the profit, they can afford to pay. Spirit knows how to make $$ and pay us market rates they just don't want to. Don't be a fool. Ever noticed the utilization of our aircraft? We have to be near 16hrs. That is one thing we do well here at Spirit. The aircraft stay in the air making money!! Even SWA knows they have to update their system so they can run red eyes.

Question of the day: define ‘market rate’.

Can you point me to the discount flight school and or college? I’m fairly certain most of us paid the same for our flight training and education as the big boys at the legacy carriers. As stated earlier, we fly the same planes on the same routes! I’m sure our passengers would love to hear we get paid less because we’re just not as “good” as those legacy guys and Spirit just can’t afford to pay for quality pilots. GMAFB!

I guess sarcasm tag required for the use of word hobby, I call it a hobby because being a pilot at Spirit does not pay enough to be worthy of the name "job", never mind "career". Everyone of us is going to vote (at least I hope so, eventually) on a new contract, and ALL of will vote only based on what is good for themselves and their family, (if people voted with their conscience we would never had $38 first year pay....). I have kids and I am saving for retirement/college, but I personally will not vote for a contract with gutted work rules just to achieve a marginal pay raise. Ask your friends at AA how much they like getting their required 30-hour rest at an outstation so they can have less than a full day of between 4-day trips, just to get "industry leading pay" (spoiler alert: their pay is no longer industry leading, but the work rules are still gone). Or ask your none-money-hungry WN friends how much they like seeing CS show at the airplane after the last leg of the trip with a three day extension (yes, that will happen all summer, and no, you can't refuse), but "Hey, we are the highest paid B737 pilots". I have been in aviation since 1990, forgive me if I am a bit wary of giving too much to this company.

Sorry about negotiating in public, but pay rates are only one page of our 222 page contract.
