I came from a PBS airline and there's no such thing as a "MUST be built" bid sheet, or bid group using your terminology. The P in PBS stands for "preferential" because you're bidding your preferences, if you're senior you'll get you bid for (if you know how to bid) but if you're junior you're gonna get fewer of your preferences and will end up with the less desirable trips and days on/off regardless of what (or if) you bid. There's no requirement to bid shyt trips to get shyt trips.
Here is an example of a bid group from a legacy PBS. The computer will honor in order of priority. #1 being most important #99 least.
(Group 1)
1. Dec 23 thur dec 27 off
2. no weekends
3. No trips before 0800 show
4. min schedule 68hrs to 72 hrs
5 end
The above group weighs dec 23 thur dec 27 off as most important and no weekends next. The final schedule should look like Monday thur Friday with no trips before 0800 and the program will stop when the total for the month reaches 68 to 72 hours. If the program can't complete to line #5 it moves to group 2 and starts over completely. ** It will NOT use any of group 1 to complete group 2. It goes back to a blank sheet and starts over. Many fail to understand this and fail bidding.
(Group 2)
1. DEC 23 thur DEC 27 off
2. no trips before 0730 show
3. no Saturdays
4. min schedule 68 to 72 hrs
5 end
Above group adds Sunday and 30 mins to try to complete a schedule.
(Group 3)
1. Dec 23 thur Dec 25 off
2. no trip show before 0659
3. min schedule 68 to 72
4. end
(Group 4)
1. DEC 25 off
2. No trip shows before 0630
3. Min schedule 68 to 72 hrs.
4. end
(Group 5)
1. No trip shows before 0630
2. min schudle 68 to 72 hrs.
3. end
This group should run to completion with no issue but an ugly schedule!!
AA has a max of 5 bid groups.
BTW I'm sure Spirit will screw this up and end up just like American with no one to work due to an error on the management side. American had no clue till the Union informed them of the issue.

So you say. I've been asking every single other guy picketing with us about their experience with PBS and their preference. Not a single one to date has said that they'd give up PBS. Not a SINGLE one.

Why would you ask "every single other guy picketing with us"? So you didn't ask married guys only single guys? You're the grammar Cop? OMG! You don't know what you're talking about and make zero sense! First explain Spirit work rules and how we bid and not a single one would take PBS over our current system. Why? Because we have so much control over QOL. Actually the comment I get back is don't give that up for PBS! Or I get "man hold on to that! or "the system we have sucks!" Ask the AA guys! They say PBS was a big mistake. AA guys would go back to line bidding in a NYC second if they could! The Delta/NWA guys have PBS with gutted work rules. SWA has line bidding, they can trip trade or see if someone will pick up their trip. They don't have red/green days drop. They don't see MUP or the ability ask for days pay protected if you're junior manned. SWA has a system where during the summer months "Everyone is on reserve"! It's known as jet bridge Junior man! They grab the crew as they walk off what they thought was their last leg. Sorry crew scheduling is on the phone with 2 more days of flying at 200%. That happens all the time! Next time give them the choice of the Spirit system of crew scheduling or PBS and the result will be completely different. Ask more than just single guys next time. LOL Grammar cop just got busted!

What does the term “unstacking” mean? How will the company flip the switches in the back ground when it comes to thresholds and credit windows. How will the reserve coverage be calculated with PBS as it pertains to trips vs coverage? This is just the beggining. Belive me as a person who knows a lot on this subject pilots at spirit should not want it. Your QOL as you know it now will be gone.

Pretty broad brush you’re painting with. Was Republic teamsters the same union that wasn’t able to secure cancelation pay for close to a decade? And that’s your assumption with what the Union will give us? Republic?

So because Flica PBS sucked at Republic airlines, we are doomed to get Flica PBS here, under the same rules as Republic Airlines?
