Default Vacation Shift

Per the CBA we can "shift" our vacation week +/- 3 days post bid award. Has anybody used this option recently with any success? I ask because it appears as though CS can deny the request based upon "reserve availability." I've got vacation coming up here in a few months and am just trying to figure out whether or not I can count on using the "shift" language in order to slide my vacation into a trip drop.

You can never count on it (I know that's a hard pill to swallow when trying to plan) yet I have yet to be denied. However, my last vacation was last month and didn't have to shift. Is the environment different right now.....I don't know.

To my understanding they can't deny it if it doesn't create a new trip drop. If it DOES create one, then.... I honestly don't know, never done it that way. I successfully slid my vacation +1 day last month to save hours on a potential drop (it would be dropped regardless due to tx2) and use my hours for float. So, in this case, it worked for me. Good luck!

So which takes priority? Transition or Vacation? I'm looking at having a transition drop for August overlap vacation time. I'd obviously rather use their hours than mine.

It's a good question. I didn't want to risk it, hence the shift...

They can and did deny my vacation slide this month. Slide would have resulted in dropping a 4 day on 7th. Coverage was green before and after initial line improvement window. E-mailed crew planning many times, left voice mails.... no response...😤😤😤 scheduling union guy... no help whatsoever....
