I got halfway through that and thought, "God I hope this guy is joking."

Thanks.

I put a jar in the galley, and "primed the pump" with a couple of bucks in it. After three hours, I asked how much more money was in the jar. The F/A responded: "What jar?"

No one HAS to tip unless you're in group of x or more in a restaurant. If you don't want to, don't. You just look like a fool if you don't tip when it's customary to do so. Just because there is a tip box doesn't mean you have to. Some people like to.

I always add gas. And when I get close to the destination I go into a holding pattern. I pass the hat around in the back and say when it's full, we will land. And those with tight connections might want to put in a few extra bucks.

Of course I tip van drivers. I read an article a few years back about how Marriott reminded us to "Not forget to tip the maid." It made me sick. Why don't these billion dollar companies just pay their employees a fair wage instead of relying on all of us to pick up the slack. http://www.pbs.org/newshour/rundown/marriott-thank-the-maid/

Someone should show this video to Marriott. At 2:46 it talks about the Residence Inn by Marriott.

It's fascinating how Americans are obsessed with tipping, especially flight crews. Tips are meant to be reserved for EXCELLENT service, not for general handouts. It's funny to watch flight crews doing more work to dig for a dollar than the driver did to get them there.
